Downgrade One UI for custom fonts – Does it work?
Okay, hear me out. I know his might sound outright crazy, but I'm just curious to know if anyone's been able to install custom fonts using zFont3 after downgrading One UI to the pre-March security patch version (perhaps using Odin). Like many may have noticed on their phones, I can see that my wife's phone is able to persist the custom font I installed on it before the March security patch upgrade. However, I made the mistake of changing the font to one of the stock fonts after OS upgrade on my phone. While the chances of Samsung further forcing the default system font after One UI 8.5 aren't low, I still wanted to try the downgrade + font installation + upgrade method once if it's working for you.
EDIT: I downgraded from the April build to the February build using Odin (my exact setup is MacBook Pro M1 + macOS Tahoe 26.3 + VMWare Fusion + Windows 11 VM + Odin 3.14.4), and I was able to set up custom system font with zFont3 on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus. It initially failed when I tried to downgrade from the April build to the January build due to bootloader version mismatch, but thankfully, bootloader version wasn't an issue with the February build.
