Torbox, An Alternative Debrid Service with Usenet

If you're using Nuvio, Stremio, or any addon-based streaming setup and you're still relying on random torrent seeders for streams — you're missing out. Adding a debrid service completely changes the experience and Torbox is the one I'd recommend right now.

**What is a debrid service?**

Instead of streaming directly from torrents (which depends on how many people are seeding at that moment), a debrid service like TorBox grabs the file onto its own high-speed servers first and caches it. When you hit play through an addon like Torrentio or AIOStreams, it checks TorBox's cache and serves it to you instantly over HTTPS — no buffering, no waiting for seeders, just full speed playback.

**Why Torbox specifically?**

A few things set it apart from older services like Real-Debrid:

- **No IP bans** — older debrid services will ban your account if you stream from two different IPs at the same time (like your TV and your phone). TorBox allows multi-IP streaming so you can share with family without any issues

- **No logs** — TorBox does not keep records of what you download or stream

- **Insane speeds** — their infrastructure runs on 80Gbps uplinks, meaning your home internet is almost always the bottleneck, not them. 4K HDR remux files stream without breaking a sweat

- **Built-in CDN selection** — you can run a speed test inside TorBox and pick the closest server node to you for the best performance

- **Crypto payments accepted** — Bitcoin and Litecoin supported if you want to keep things private

- **Free tier available** — you can actually test it before paying. The free plan lets you try it with no credit card required

**Pricing**

- Essential — $3/month (3 connections)

- Standard — a bit more (5 connections)

- Pro — ~$10/month (10 connections + full Usenet access, which essentially replaces a separate seedbox and Usenet subscription in one)

The Pro plan especially is ridiculous value if you know what Usenet is — you're getting three services in one.

**How to add it to your addons**

Once you sign up, grab your TorBox API key from your account dashboard. Then when you configure addons like Torrentio, Comet, AIOStreams, or MediaFusion, just select TorBox as your debrid provider and paste the API key in. That's it — from that point on every stream those addons find will be served through TorBox's cache instantly.

If you want to check it out or sign up, use the link below — it helps support the guide work I've been putting out:

If you use these links I provided You receive an extra 7 days times the number of months purchased added to your current plan.

Torbox

Happy to answer any questions about setup in the comments.

TizenTube Cobalt

TizenTube Cobalt is a free, open-source YouTube client for Android TV and Fire TV devices that removes ads, skips sponsored segments, and adds quality-of-life features the official YouTube app has never offered.

Official website: TizenTube

📄️ What Is TizenTube Cobalt?

TizenTube was originally built for Samsung’s Tizen OS as a replacement for the official YouTube app on Samsung Smart TVs. TizenTube Cobalt is the Android TV version — built on top of Cobalt, a lightweight runtime originally developed by Google for HTML5 apps on embedded and resource-constrained devices like TVs and set-top boxes.

The result is an app that looks and feels like YouTube, logs into your existing Google account, and syncs your subscriptions and history — but without any of the ads, sponsor segments, or interface clutter that comes with the official app.

:::note TizenTube Cobalt is not on the Google Play Store or Amazon App Store. It must be sideloaded as an APK. This is a straightforward process covered in the installation section below. :::

✅ Features & Benefits

🛑 Ad Blocker

TizenTube Cobalt blocks all video ads — pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll — as well as banner ads in the app interface. You will not see a single ad while browsing or watching.

❗ SponsorBlock Integration

Using the community-powered SponsorBlock https://sponsor.ajay.app API, TizenTube Cobalt automatically identifies and skips sponsored segments within videos themselves — not just the YouTube ads, but also the “this video is sponsored by…” sections that creators record directly into their content.

You can configure exactly which segment types get skipped. The available categories include:

  • Sponsor segments
  • Intro / outro sequences
  • Subscription / like reminders
  • Self-promotion
  • Filler / tangents
  • Highlight previews

Each one can be set to auto-skip, show a notification, or be left enabled depending on your preference.

⏭️ Playback Speed Control

The official YouTube TV app does not offer playback speed adjustment. TizenTube Cobalt does. You can speed up or slow down any video, which is a surprisingly significant quality-of-life improvement for long-form content, tutorials, and podcasts.

🔺 DeArrow Support

Using the DeArrow https://dearrow.ajay.app API, TizenTube Cobalt replaces clickbait thumbnails with neutral frames from the actual video, and de-sensationalizes misleading video titles with more accurate community-written alternatives. This makes your home screen and recommendations far less noisy and easier to browse.

🎨 Customizable Interface

TizenTube Cobalt lets you disable elements of the player and app interface to simplify things further. You can toggle features on and off to suit your preferences directly from the TizenTube Settings menu inside the app.

🔄 Automatic Updates

TizenTube Cobalt includes a built-in in-app updater. When a new version is available, the app will prompt you with a pop-up so you can update without hunting down a new APK manually.

✅ Works With Your Existing Google Account

You sign in with your regular Google account. Subscriptions, watch history, playlists, and recommendations all carry over exactly as they would in the official app. There is nothing new to set up content-wise.

Compatible Devices

TizenTube Cobalt works on any Android TV or Fire TV based device. This includes:

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick (all models) and Fire TV Cube
  • Google TV devices (Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer)
  • NVIDIA SHIELD TV
  • Android TV boxes (onn 4K Pro, Xiaomi Mi Box, etc.)
  • Sony, TCL, Hisense, and other Android TV smart TVs

:::tip For the best experience, the developer recommends using TizenTube Cobalt on a Google TV certified device. It runs well on Fire TV devices too, but Google TV tends to offer smoother performance overall. :::

How to Install

TizenTube Cobalt is not on any official app store, so it needs to be sideloaded. The easiest method uses the Downloader app.

Step 1 — Enable Unknown Sources

Before you can install any sideloaded app, you need to allow your device to install from unknown sources.

Fire TV:

  1. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options
  2. Enable Install Unknown Apps
  3. Find Downloader in the list and toggle it on

Android TV / Google TV:

  1. Go to Settings → System → About
  2. Click on Android TV OS build (or OS build) seven times until you see “You are now a developer”
  3. Go back to Settings → Developer Options and enable USB debugging
  4. Go to Settings → Apps → Security & Restrictions and enable Unknown sources

Step 2 — Install the Downloader App

Install Downloader by AFTVNews from the Amazon App Store (Fire TV) or Google Play Store (Android TV). This is the tool you will use to pull the APK directly from GitHub.

Step 3 — Download and Install TizenTube Cobalt

  1. Open Downloader and select the URL box.

  2. Enter the following URL to go directly to the TizenTube Cobalt GitHub releases page:

    https://github.com/reisxd/TizenTubeCobalt/releases

  3. From the releases page, download the latest .apk file.

  4. Once downloaded, Downloader will prompt you to install it. Tap Install.

  5. After installation completes, tap Done. You can delete the APK file when prompted to free up storage.

  6. TizenTube Cobalt will now appear in your apps list. Open it, sign in with your Google account, and you are ready to go.

:::tip After installation, go into the app settings and select TizenTube Settings to configure SponsorBlock, DeArrow, ad blocking behavior, and any interface customizations you want. It is worth spending a couple of minutes in there to set it up exactly how you like. :::

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TizenTube Cobalt safe to use? Yes. TizenTube Cobalt is fully open source — the code is publicly available and auditable on GitHub at https://github.com/reisxd/TizenTubeCobalt. Always download the APK directly from the official GitHub releases page to ensure you are getting the authentic version.

Will I lose my subscriptions or watch history? No. TizenTube Cobalt uses your existing Google account, so everything is already there when you log in.

Does it work on Samsung Smart TVs? The Cobalt version is specifically for Android TV and Fire TV devices. If you have a Samsung TV running Tizen OS, the original TizenTube (installed via TizenBrew) is the version for you — find it at TizenTube

Do I need to manually update it? No. The app includes a built-in updater and will prompt you when a new version is available.

Will my Google account get banned for using this? There are no known cases of Google banning accounts for using third-party YouTube clients. The app logs in through standard Google authentication just like any other app.

Addons

Nuvio on its own is just a shell — addons are what give it actual content. This guide covers what addons are, where to find them, how to install them, and which ones to start with.

What Are Addons?

Addons are small external services that plug into Nuvio and tell it where to find streams, metadata, subtitles, and catalogs. Nuvio is fully compatible with the Stremio addon ecosystem, which means any addon built for Stremio will work in Nuvio as well.

There are a few different types of addons you will encounter:

  • Stream addons — these are the ones that actually find video sources for whatever you want to watch. They scrape torrent sites, debrid services, or HTTP stream hosts.
  • Catalog addons — these populate your home screen and discovery sections with content from platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max.
  • Metadata addons — these supply richer information like ratings, descriptions, and artwork.
  • Subtitle addons — these fetch subtitle files from sources like OpenSubtitles and SubDL.

Most addons require some configuration before you install them. You visit their configuration page in a browser, set your preferences (like your debrid service, language, or content filters), and then receive a manifest URL — a unique link that represents your personal configuration of that addon. That manifest URL is what you actually install into Nuvio.

:::tip Because your addon manifest URL contains your personal configuration and sometimes API keys, treat it like a password. Do not share it publicly. :::

Where to Find Addons

The best place to browse available addons is the community-maintained directory at:

ADDONS

From here you can browse by category — torrents, live TV, subtitles, anime, debrid support, and more — or sort by popularity to see what the community is actually using. Each addon page includes a description of what it does, version history, and a direct link to its configuration page.

:::note Not every addon on stremio-addons.net will have Nuvio-specific support, but the vast majority work without any issues since Nuvio uses the same addon protocol as Stremio. :::

How to Install an Addon

There are two ways to install addons in Nuvio: through the account dashboard (recommended), or directly within the app.

Method 1 — Via the Dashboard (Recommended)

Installing addons through your dashboard is the better approach because it instantly syncs the addon to all your devices. You do not have to repeat the process on your phone, TV, and tablet separately.

  1. Go to the addon’s configuration page in your browser (linked from stremio-addons.net or the addon’s own website).
  2. Set your preferences — debrid service, language, quality filters, etc.
  3. Copy the manifest URL that the configuration page generates. It will look something like: https://addon-name.example.com/your-config-id/manifest.json
  4. Open your Nuvio account dashboard at https://nuvioapp.space/account and log in. 5.Navigate to the Addons section. 6.Paste the manifest URL into the install field and confirm.

The addon will now appear on all devices where you are logged into the same Nuvio account and profile.

Method 2 — Directly Within the App

You can also install addons from inside Nuvio on any device.

  1. Open Nuvio and navigate to Settings or the Addons section from the sidebar.
  2. Look for an option to add an addon by URL or manifest link.
  3. Paste the manifest URL and confirm the installation.

:::note If you install an addon in-app, it should still sync to your other devices since it is tied to your account, but using the dashboard method is more reliable during the current beta. :::

Recommended Starter Addons

Here is a solid starting setup depending on what you want to watch. All of these are free to configure, though some work better with a debrid service.

For Movies & Series

Recommended

Stremthru Torz is an open-source addon that covers movies, series. It supports a wide range of debrid providers and is more actively developed . Configure it from its page at Stremthru Torz

Torrentio is the most popular and widely-used stream addon. It searches dozens of torrent providers and works with every major debrid service. Configure it at Torrentio — select your debrid service, preferred quality, and any filters you want, then copy the manifest URL it generates. (Side note this one blocks vpns)

Comet is a fast alternative to Torrentio with a focus on speed and debrid integration. It is particularly well-regarded for debrid users who want results quickly. Hosted publicly by ElfHosted — find the configuration link on the addon’s page at Comet

MediaFusion is an open-source addon that covers movies, series, and live TV. It supports a wide range of debrid providers and is more actively developed than Torrentio. Configure it from its page at MediaFusion

:::tip If you want to simplify things and only install one stream addon, AIOStreams wraps Torrentio, Comet, MediaFusion, and others into a single addon with a unified filter and sort system. Configure it from https://stremio-addons.net/addons/aiostreams. This is especially useful since you only need to manage one manifest URL across your devices. :::

For Catalogs & Discovery

Streaming Catalogs adds trending and popular content from Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Apple TV+, and more directly to your Nuvio home screen. There is no account required — you just pick your region and services during configuration. Find it at https://stremio-addons.net/addons/streaming-catalogs.

The Movie Database Addon (TMDB) enriches Nuvio with detailed metadata, watchlists, and multi-language support. It can connect to your TMDB account for a personalized experience. Find it at https://stremio-addons.net/addons/the-movie-database-addon.

For Live TV

USA TV provides a large selection of live US channels across news, sports, entertainment, kids, and lifestyle categories with no account required. Find it at https://stremio-addons.net/addons/usa-tv. (Side note doesn’t always work)

MediaFusion (listed above) also includes live TV channels if you prefer to keep everything in a single addon.

For Subtitles

OpenSubtitles PRO is a clean, ad-free subtitle addon with a massive library. A free OpenSubtitles account is recommended to avoid rate limits. Find it at https://stremio-addons.net/addons/opensubtitles-pro.

SubSense is a subtitle aggregator that pulls from multiple sources including OpenSubtitles, SubDL, SubSource, and AnimeTosho in one addon. Find it at https://stremio-addons.net/addons/subsense.

Do I Need a Debrid Service?

You do not need one to use addons, but having one significantly improves the experience.

Without a debrid service, torrent-based addons like Torrentio will still find streams, but you are limited to torrents with enough active seeders to support real-time playback. Very high quality content (4K, Dolby Vision, Atmos) is unlikely to stream reliably without one.

With a debrid service, streams are served from the debrid provider’s high-speed servers over HTTPS. This means no buffering, no reliance on seeders, and access to the highest quality releases available.

Popular debrid services that work with Nuvio addons include TorBox, Real-Debrid, Premiumize, AllDebrid, and Debrid-Link. Most offer a free trial.

:::note If you are considering a debrid service, TorBox (https://torbox.app) is currently well-regarded for its speed and competitive pricing. Real-Debrid has the largest cache of any service but has faced some API restrictions in recent months that affect certain addons. :::

Managing and Removing Addons

To remove an addon, go back to the Addons section in your Nuvio account dashboard at https://nuvioapp.space/account. You can disable or delete any installed addon from there. The change will sync to all your devices.

If an addon stops working — for example if streams stop appearing — the first thing to do is check whether the addon’s configuration page is still live and whether there is a newer version available. Many addons are community-maintained and URLs can change.

The Stremio Addons directory keeps version history and update notes for each addon, so it is a good first place to check when something stops working.

Disclaimer

This guide is provided for educational purposes only. Nuvio is an open-source media client that does not host, store, or distribute any content. All streams are sourced through third-party addons installed and configured by the user. We are not affiliated with Nuvio, any addon developer, or any debrid service mentioned in this guide. You are solely responsible for how you use this software and the addons you choose to install. Please ensure your usage complies with the copyright laws and regulations in your country

This guide covers everything you need to set up Nuvio, create an account, and get it synced across all your devices.

📄️ Introduction

Nuvio is a modern media hub that lets you browse and play content through user-installed addons sourced from the Stremio addon ecosystem. It is free, open source, and available on Android, iOS, and Android TV.

Unlike simply installing the app and using it locally, creating a Nuvio account is what enables your addons, profiles, and watch progress to stay in sync across every device you own. This guide focuses on getting that account set up correctly first, then walking you through installing the app on each platform.

::: note Nuvio is still in active beta (current version 0.1.6 as of April 2026). Expect frequent updates. Always check for the latest release on GitHub. :::

Creating a Nuvio Account

Before installing Nuvio on any device, you should create your account first. This way, when you log in on each device, everything is already waiting for you.

  1. Open your browser and go to NUVIO WEBSITE

  2. Click Login in the top navigation.

  3. Scroll down to Need an account? and select Create one.

  4. Enter your email address and a strong password, then click Create account.

  5. You will land on the Nuvio Account Dashboard.

:::tip Consider using a privacy-focused email provider when signing up. Since Nuvio is in beta and open source, it’s good practice to keep your personal email separate. :::

Once inside your dashboard, you can create and manage Profiles. Profiles let multiple people share one account while keeping their watch history, addons, and preferences separate. To add one, click Add Profile, give it a name, and choose whether it should inherit the primary account’s addons and plugins.

Installing Nuvio

Android

Android is the most straightforward installation. Nuvio is available through the Google Play Store as an open testing build.

  1. On your Android device, open the Play Store and search for Nuvio, or visit the link below directly:

    NUVIO GOOGLE PLAYSTORE

  2. Tap Join to join the open testing program, then tap Install.

  3. Once installed, open Nuvio and log in with the account you created earlier.

  4. Select your profile and you are ready to go.

:::note If the Play Store listing is unavailable in your region, you can instead download the latest APK directly from GitHub:

NUVIO GITHUB

Download the .apk file, allow installs from unknown sources in your Android settings, and install it manually. :::

iOS

Nuvio is not available on the App Store. The TestFlight beta is currently full. The current way to install it on iPhone or iPad is to sideload the IPA file using Sideloadly.

:::warning Sideloaded apps signed with a free Apple ID expire every 7 days and must be re-signed. You do not need to reinstall the app — just re-run Sideloadly with your device connected and it will refresh the certificate. :::

What you need:

  • A Windows or Mac computer
  • A USB cable
  • Your Apple ID (a secondary/burner Apple ID is recommended)
  • Sideloadly, downloaded from: SIDELOADLY
  • The latest Nuvio IPA file, downloaded from: NUVIO GITHUB

Steps:

  1. Download and install Sideloadly on your computer from SIDELOADLY

:::tip Windows users: You must have the web version of iTunes installed, not the Microsoft Store version. Download it from Apple’s website directly. :::

  2. Download the latest Nuvio .ipa file from:

NUVIO MOBILE

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Open Sideloadly on your computer.
  3. Drag and drop the .ipa file into the Sideloadly window.
  4. Enter your Apple ID email in the Apple account field.
  5. Click Start. When prompted, enter your Apple ID password. Sideloadly will handle the signing and installation.
  6. Once installed, do not open the app yet. You need to trust the developer certificate first:
  • Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
  • Tap on your Apple ID under the Developer App section
  • Tap Trust, then Trust again on the confirmation popup
  1. Return to your Home Screen, open Nuvio, and log in with the account you created earlier.

Android TV / Fire TV / Google TV

The Android TV version of Nuvio is a separate app built specifically for TV devices with a TV-optimized interface. It is not on the Play Store and must be sideloaded using an APK.

Step 1 — Download the APK

Download the latest Android TV APK from the official GitHub repository:

NUVIO MOBILE

Step 2 — Get the APK onto your TV

There are two easy ways to do this:

  • Downloader by AFTVNews (recommended for Fire TV and Android TV): Install Downloader from your device’s app store, enable Unknown Sources in developer settings, then enter the GitHub releases URL in Downloader’s browser to navigate to and download the APK.
  • Send Files to TV: Install the Send Files to TV app on both your phone and your TV, then send the APK from your phone directly.

Step 3 — Enable Unknown Sources

Before installing, you need to allow your device to install apps from unknown sources:

  • Fire TV: Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps → turn on for the app you are using to install (e.g., Downloader)
  • Android TV / Google TV: Go to Settings → Device Preferences → Security & Restrictions → Unknown Sources → enable

Step 4 — Install and Log In via QR Code

Once the APK is installed, open Nuvio on your TV. You will be presented with a QR code to log in. Here is how to use it:

  1. On your phone, open a browser and go to NUVIO WEBSITE and log in to your Nuvio account.
  2. Open your phone’s camera or a QR reader app and scan the QR code shown on your TV screen.
  3. Tap the generated link on your phone.
  4. Re-enter your email and password and tap Sign in & Approve TV.
  5. Your TV will automatically log in and prompt you to choose a profile.
  6. Select your profile and your configuration, addons, and watch history will all be synced immediately.

How Sync Works

Once you are logged in on all your devices, Nuvio keeps the following synced to your account:

  • Addons and plugins — install once, available everywhere
  • Profiles — all devices respect the profile you have set as active
  • Watch history and progress — pick up where you left off on any device

If you make changes to your addons on one device, they will reflect on your other devices the next time you open the app or refresh.

:::tip If something doesn’t seem to be syncing, try switching profiles and switching back, or logging out and back in. The app is still in beta and occasional sync hiccups can be resolved this way. :::

What’s Next

Now that your account is created and the app is installed on all your devices, the next step is adding addons to start finding content. You can add addons directly from within the Nuvio app, or you can add them from your account dashboard at NUVIO WEB using a manifest URL, which is the faster method when setting up multiple devices at once.
