Never trust Urban Company technicians blindly

We reinstalled an AC after shifting to a new house and used Urban Company.

First, the uninstallation person said he would charge ₹250 extra for "special nuts" so that the gas wouldn't leak. I just paid it to be safe.

Then the installation took place by another UC guy. It went well and the AC worked fine for a couple of days, but then the cooling stopped. I hired another UC guy to perform an AC cleanup; he also did a gas test and showed me that the gas was low. So, I hired another UC guy—let's call him GD—to do a gas refill. He did the job and left.

The next day, I noticed the AC wasn't even secured properly. I claimed a warranty on UC, and GD came back to fix it. While he was there, he actually asked me why I didn't just call him directly instead of going through the app!

The AC worked fine for 3 days, but then I went to my hometown and came back 12 days later. I turned on the AC and surprise—no cooling. Since the refill guy (GD) had told me to call him directly for any concerns, I called him. He showed up very late in the evening, did some preliminary checks, and said there was a leak. He insisted that both units needed to be taken to his shop for a "full inspection."

I didn't trust him at all after the mounting issue, so I said no and asked him to leave.

I claimed the warranty again and insisted on a Senior Technician. He arrived a day later, inspected everything, and found the leak. He confirmed the fitting itself was not done properly, which made it crystal clear that GD was just trying to scam me. He probably wanted to get the units to his shop to charge me for unnecessary "repairs" after botching the initial job. Senior Tech also said never to let them take the units to shop and any repair can be done in-house.

Be careful with these guys—especially the ones who try to get you to call them directly.
