I am installing Proxmox to test prior to migrating my VMWare Workstation instances

Last night I had my initial Windows instance installed so I shutdown the test system, this morning the WebGUI/SSH would not work - tried various fixes, gave up reinstalled

1. Installed 9.1.7
2. set nic0 MTU 9014 - working
3. rebooted
4. still working
5. set vmbr0 MTU 9014 - WebGUI/SSH hung
6. reboot
7. still not working
8. edit /etc/network/interfaces removed MTU
9. reboot
10. back working

Am I doing something wrong here? or does vmbr0 not like jumbo packets

EDIT Turns out I've a I219-LM in the box which doesn't like jumbo frames
