RWD or long range for long commute (250km) roundtrip) in Ottawa climate?

I’m driving about 250km round trip daily around Ottawa and total roughly 90,000 km/year. Looking at a used 2022 Tesla Model 3 and trying to decide between RWD with the tougher battery and Long Range AWD.

They both seem like they could handle it, but I’m worried about winter range and long-term battery degradation with that kind of mileage. I don’t want to be charging constantly or cutting it close in the winter. I'm buying tfos vehicle specifically for commuting.

For those with similar commutes, is the RWD enough year-round or is Long Range needed to get me home in the winter?

Driving 93k km/year, does switching to a Tesla make sense?

This is kind of a follow-up to an earlier post, but after redoing the math I realized I’m driving way more than I thought.. 93,000 km/year or almost 8000km pr month, yikes.

Right now I’m in a 2017 Mazda CX-5 with 120,000 km. It costs me about $1200/month on gas, around $250/month on maintenance and $175 on insurance so roughly $1625/month for everything except the actual payment.

I’m starting to feel like this might just be the wrong kind of vehicle for how much I drive.

I’ve been looking at a used 2022 Tesla Model 3 AWD in the $30–35k range. Insurance would go up about $1,200/year, but I’d basically eliminate gas and oil changes. If I finance it over 3 years (since I rack up mileage so fast), the payment would be around $1,000/month.

In that scenario it would be $100 on charging, $100 on maintenance and $275 on insurance ($475/pr month)

When I run the numbers, it looks pretty close to break-even monthly, maybe slightly ahead, which is what’s making me seriously consider it.

I can likely get out of my Mazda for about what I owe, and at this mileage I feel like I’m going to kill the resale value of anything anyway.

Does this make financial sense, or am I just convincing myself to upgrade?

Would you stick with the CX-5 or switch to something like a Model 3?

Is this a decent phone plan?

Hi all

I've been with a reseller for years and I don't really have the finger on the pulse when it comes to phone plans. Hard to navigate I guess. Just looking for a reality check to see if I'm on a fair plan or if there is anything substantially better out there. I like the company I'm with, they respond quickly and seems like good people all together.

I pay $24/month pr line for unlimited talk/text (two lines total, wife and I) with $1/GB data shared between the phones. We use around 40-50gb/month combined and the bills are usually around $100+tax.

One thing I REALLY like about this plan is that we can share the data between the two lines, so nothing is "wasted" since my wife uses a lot less data than me in general.

Does this seem reasonable?
