Well this was bound to happen at some point or another. It's a statistical outlier which over time becomes just as likely as any other outlier. If we're happy with the outlier where we got to 287, then we must also accept the outlier where we got to 87.

Does this speak to our batting? Yes, definitely. Just like our batting approach amplifies the chances of reaching 270, 280+ outliers, our batting approach also amplifies the chances of the other side of the coin beyond normal ranges. That's just the ticket cost to batting our way. Can we do better when we know batting is going to be hard? Absolutely yes. We didn't get to where we are by batting safe, it's a cultural decision within the team.

Look, it's unfortunate that such an outlier had to come at such an important junction in the season, but look at it this way - with an outlier gone by, it becomes far less likely that it would happen again soon. When DC got bowled out cheaply by RCB, i remember one of the DC coaches speaking about it. He said that such a game is bound to happen once a season for most teams. There is not much point analysing it, or trying to look at what went wrong. It's the swiss cheese model of a loss. That's fine.

Now our next two matches will speak to our mettle. Both are must wins, doubly so against RCB at home. All the best, and I'm sticking by the team to reach the playoffs at the very least.

Heard from someone on inside, Cummins is talking about his possible unavailability for the 2027 season already. The main concern is to fit IPL between BGT, Ashes, and world cup.

With CA making huge offers for his presence, it seems likely that the above is true.
