The "Special Thanks" in IEWU credit is basically a Reynolds family reunion and it's a huge self-own.
I was looking at the official credits for It Ends With Us and the "Special Thanks" section is absolutely wild. If you need proof that this was a total hostile takeover by the Lively-Reynolds camp, this is it.
Look at the screenshot:
Almost every single person on this list is there because of Blake. She even has them phrased as "Ms. Lively wishes to extend special thanks to..." over and over again.
A few things that stand out:
- The Gordon Reynolds thing: This is the smoking gun. Ryan is credited as "Gordon Reynolds" (his 'evil twin' persona) for the Nicepool role in Deadpool & Wolverine—the same character everyone says is a parody of Justin Baldoni. Blake actually thanked "Gordon" in her movie. It’s not a joke; it’s a documented petty swipe at her director in the official credits of a movie about domestic violence.
- The Family Tree: She didn't just thank Ryan. She included all four of their kids (Inez, James, Olin, and Betty), her mom, and even the wife of Ryan’s editor, Shane Reid.
- The "Squad": It’s a billionaire's club roll call. Taylor Swift, Austin Swift, Aaron Dessner, and Shawn Levy (the Deadpool director). It looks more like her private party guest list than a film production crew.
- The Justin Erasure: This is the kicker. Justin Baldoni—the actual director and co-star—isn't even thanked directly. His name only shows up as a footnote under his wife Emily’s mention.
It’s hard to sell the "I was just a marginalized actress with no power" narrative when you literally hijacked the credits to thank your children, your husband’s alter-ego, and your pop-star best friend, all while burying the director.
The ego it takes to put "Gordon Reynolds" in these credits is insane. It’s like they thought they were untouchable.
