CMV: People abuse Reddit’s ‘block’ feature to control public-facing narratives they don’t like

This has happened to me enough times now that I want to highlight this behavior to the broader Reddit community. The basic pattern is such: user A makes a claim. User B responds to user A. User A responds back. User B responds, then immediately blocks A. A can no longer see B’s response, let alone reply, meanwhile B’s response remains an active thread. In some versions, user B uses their newfound invisibility to respond to other comments from user A, which user A cannot see nor respond to. User B now has last word in any and all threads shared between the users.

Since its probably not going to be very productive to argue whether or not this occurs, or is being used as an active manipulation strategy, so I’ll take another angle here: Reddit’s block feature is designed in a way that empowers the blocker to exhibit asymmetric control over narratives in threads where they’ve blocked other users. Unlike other evasive maneuvers on Reddit like the infamous ninja edit, there is no public audit trail to indicate where user blocks are filtering the information presented to different users.

Now there are situations where blocking is absolutely necessary for safety or privacy concerns, but that isn’t what I’m commenting on (these also probably account for less than 1% of blocked users, but again not the point here). To change my view, explain to me why Reddit’s asymmetric block feature is the best possible or only viable way to implement this feature.

An Exercise in Empathy, Understanding, and Clarity; or whatever word/term involving “Sides”

Many people argue and debate about Anakin Skywalker; he was the Chosen One to bring Balance to the Force! Only, he was corrupted and became Darth Vader.

How did this happen?

Many factors; some could argue that it was the Jedi’s strict dogma, rules, and communication issues (on this last point: how?! They have telepathy and Force Ghosts!).

The Jedi admitted to their weakening connection to the Force, but never considered that was their own doing due to their dogma and their need to be seen as still in control.

Some could argue that Anakin’s upbringing, personality, and goals are how the Sith were able to turn him “to the Dark Side”.

Born into slavery on a desert planet, Anakin had only his mother. He was “too old” to be made into a Padawan, but this happened anyway. He met Padmé Amidala by chance (or Fate?), and fell in love. ~[HOW SINFUL](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Sabine\_Wren))!\~

Anakin became Darth Vader through love and its perversion and manipulation via Sheev Palpatine.

Through the events of the Prequel Trilogy, we see that The Chosen One Prophecy did indeed come true, just not in a way any might have imagined.

[It’s quite a tragic tale](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=05dT34hGRdg&pp=ygUOZGFydGggcGxhZ3VlaXM%3D&ra=m).

Yet, even in a vast galaxy far, far away, [Hope remains](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=76uPU2AHK3I&pp=ygUYRW5kIG9mIHRoZSBsYXN0IGplZGkga2lk&ra=m)) and endures.

What do you want?

It’s been decades and I’m sick of this petty shit.

You know exactly how to get ahold of me if you want to have a discussion, yet this has not been done.

The silence, kicking the can down the road, letting the buck run buck wild, the grift, the gambling, the high crimes. You’re pathetic and manipulative;

All of this evinced in the fact you can’t even have a discussion in good faith.

“If wishes were fishes, the whole world would drown.”

[The benefit of the Truth](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VVyMKE-p0S4&pp=ygUKVGltIGRpbGxvbg%3D%3D&ra=m)?

Honestly, some of the Palantir manifesto points, as I understand them, make a certain level of sense. Others, I’m not sure; others still, not so much.

Culture is not created, it arises organically. An example I can think of is back when I was in school we had to wear uniforms. Every person in class [tweaked the uniform](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F7SNEdjftno&pp=ygUPUGllY2VzIG9mIGZsYWly&ra=m) in some way to their individual tastes.

A militarized society indicates there is some sort of threat. *What* or *who* and even *when* is that threat? Instead of forcing everyone into a role like naughty children, why not just discuss the problems as equals? I don’t think most people would break into chaos; we’ve learned by now that most [chaos is manufactured](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_provocateur) anyways.

The East is not typically expansionist. The Middle East isn’t what is typically taught. The South is more refined than is typically understood. The North is just cold and people would prefer to be cozy by the fire. It just seems that it’s the West that’s a bull in a china shop.

Why does anyone need to expand when we have [“unlimited Energy”](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheUnivercity/s/Y9qg99eJjs) we could be selling to make money for the betterment of society? What are you worried about? Are you sure it’s not a controlling-behavior on your part? These questions are not pointed specifically at the West, just generally.

I strongly think/know that a societal [casino](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbgjjb6tbEc&list=RDQbgjjb6tbEc&start_radio=1&pp=ygURQ2FzaW5vIGhvdW5kbW91dGigBwE%3D&ra=m) is not conducive to progress; ask any gambling addict their story.

I also think it would be pretty interesting to talk to some of the movers & shakers of our society; it’s like “whose worldbuilding model are you following?”, because I think the majority of people are not supportive of the path we seem to be heading toward.

Maybe if we all had some [disclosure](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheUnivercity/s/r57QygKpHr) as to the endgame of what the clear grift on multiple fronts in multiple sectors is about we all might be able to sleep better at night.

Locking people into a [24/7 casino](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MIEeKI0qYII&ra=m), not letting them leave and then betting on their choices and breeding or not seems perverse; is that what this all is?

[Reality is real](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sCLe3hRyXRU&pp=ygUiUmVhZHkgcGxheWVyIG9uZSBoYWxsaWRheSBwYXJjaXZhbA%3D%3D&ra=m), and whatever has been going on seems much more uncanny than real.

= = = • = = = • = = = • = = = • = = = • = = =

This might be controversial, but I feel bad for Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and many public figures. It’s a more difficult life than I think is given credit to. I just said the other day in a Marvel subreddit: “It’s exceptionally unfortunate for the exceptional to be fortunate even among IRL humans (anonymity, loneliness, privacy, grifters, etc).” It’s the same for them but more so.

Trump kind of reminds me of my grandfather (who is or tries to be a good man). Two things I can say about DJT is that I thought the whole “take down two laws for every new law” in his first term could be a good idea (nuance required), and that he can be really funny.

Obviously he has said and/or done some atrocious things, according to news sources. I’m not excusing that, just pointing out that he is a person just like anyone else.

Donald Trump didn’t have to come down that escalator (pretty gangster move) and run for President (I think), he could’ve maybe been an interesting stand-up comedian or just enjoyed retirement by golfing.

I feel bad for him, and others. It’s a cultural behavior to point at an individual as a scapegoat for all wrongs. Having a magnifying glass on you 24/7/365 definitely has to be difficult. You sneeze wrong and suddenly it’s a national scandal, people get fired and lose their livelihoods, the news cycle sifts over such inanities when there are more problems going on. “OMG a tan suit?!?!?! Children are weeping, women are fainting, men are tearing their hair out; a tan suit!!!”

These figures that we know that we don’t know face pressures and issues unlike the rest of us, and they are us. Just US.

Incentives, behaviors, goals, and narratives from various angles affect their every minutia of every day. Same as us. Just different roles that no one in their right mind would ever [wish](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wish_(Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer)) for. They, like anyone, sometimes get caught up in currents they never wanted because of others in currents they never wanted because of others in currents they never wanted; on and on for quite some time. All our lives are a tangled knot, and sometimes it’s best to take a breather and reassess.

Listen, I voted for Harris, but that Donald Trump has faced so many assassination attempts is horrific; he is a human being like anyone else. It’s very difficult to know if it’s real because there is a lot of oddness with past events, too many lies, too much Yes&No. He is clearly a controversial human being, which might clue anyone in as to the why of the attempts, or it’s just another grift, maybe for [the seeming societal casino and money incentives](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheUnivercity/s/GUJPIsqpWL).

Money is not everything, it’s not anything *real*ly. Literally, it’s basically imaginary. A culture based only on money is for psychopaths and narcissists. It’s culture is an insatiable [Ego that exists in a hell of its own making](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eyYjvWhAFsw&pp=ygURRWdvIHJldmVhbHMgdHJ1dGg%3D&ra=m).

Money can aid ambition in big projects, but those projects should be for the betterment of society which inevitably leads to the betterment of self. If one sees society as themself or something to force into compliance, of course they’re very likely to be an Ego with control-problems; they’re grey goo. They’re easy to manipulate if they didn’t drown everything else.

Most people just want **financial independence**, they don’t need to be rich and/or famous. Others it seems, think they are able to decide for others when they should be minding their own “Ps & Qs”, as my old teachers used to say.

Respect, legitimacy, and boundaries are essential for a conducive and cohesive society, without those, one is a [Beast who never left middle school](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_Candy) and they are trying to Bull-Y everyone else to their way of thinking. [Someone in that frame-of-mind should probably talk to someone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Therapy) about what their own actions have caused, whether that’s from envy, trauma, or whatever vice or issue they never got over.

Suffice to say, we all face our own issues and tribulations in life, and we often don’t realize our greatest blessings; **each other**.

Where would we be without each other and all of the ancestors of the past who tried their honest best to propel us towards a beautiful and happy future?

Sometimes there seems little respect amongst each other. I’m not sure if it’s miscommunication, ego, incentives, or what; it could be all of that or more and then some, but it bothers [me sometimes](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wnQZfLxVj34&pp=ygUVQnVmZnkgY29uZnJvbnRzIGdpbGVz0gcJCdQKAYcqIYzv).

I know that it shouldn’t. Everyone has different means, different strengths and weaknesses. Some have relatively easy lives, others don’t know the meaning of the concept. Maybe we’ve all been through it; they say we all go through it together, but we all go at it alone.

[We’re never really alone though](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HKh6XxYbbIc).

[There’s been](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nLx_7wEmwms&pp=ygUGV2FsbCBl) times in my life when it seemed that all I really had were the flowers, their vibrancy and resilience. [They never give up](https://greenlivingtribe.com/photos-beautiful-flowers-growing-through-concrete-to-remind-you-tough-scary-times-only-make-you-stronger/), and I love them for it.

🎵 “[You don’t know](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rM7a0i7Vdqw&pp=ygUiRmlyZWZseSBzaG93IGxlZnQgZWFydGggYmFja2dyb3VuZA%3D%3D) what [you’ve got](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q4VkzfikFv0) til it’s gone.” 🎶

Do you know what it is to be like a [stone](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2X1sOTg-ivg&pp=ygUmRXZlcnl0aGluZyBldmVyeXdoZXJlIGFsbCBhdCBvbmNlIHJvY2s%3D)?

Sometimes the best path forward is to take a moment, and be like a stone.

Fake “Faith” Tactics?

[After what I’ve been through for 16+ years](https://www.reddit.com/r/TyrannyOfTime/s/PTXVwo8R0T), I had a thought that this (now deleted) post is an example of what I consider Fake Faith-ers might do with the intersection of dark psychology, gangstalking, Sports Betting, data extraction, forgery, corruption, and more. Coercive control methods such as censorship, [labels], rumor, or even stealing dog-poop from a dumpster and spreading it around town are ways to insure/ensure the victim remains isolated.

There have been many instances where I could see red because of the treatment I’ve been through. I’m not sure the average person can grasp the levels of suffering and damages I’ve endured to be here to try to help others, and of course myself to get out of this seemingly (c)ultish (c)ontrol (C = 3, CC = 33; coincidence?) grid.

Imagine conflating something like this with the “AI Bubble”?

People love [to debate consciousness](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OWK6oSbSKKc&pp=ygUQQmxhZGVydW5uZXIgdGVzdA%3D%3D&ra=m) and [theology, and have difficulty proving it in others](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inquisition), what better dehumanizing way than to call another a “[bot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuralink))”?

Imagine if that’s claimed to be the only way one can determine (or predetermine) another’s “[humanity](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MeBzqf03PgY&ra=m))”or not?

I can’t blame others who are neutral or good actors, but have a Epstein type character holding a gun to their head threatening to kill their children and make them eat them unless they abuse the victim too. I sometimes get a sense that happens.

It doesn’t even have to be a gun; it could be a paycheck, a promotion, or threat of ostracism or excommunication. There are many forms of control, and religious abuse and trauma is certainly one of them.

By The Way, when did these “un[precedent](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/precedent)ed times” start? 2023? 2024? Just wondering. For me it’s been since ~2010-2011, maybe much longer.

Who knows, maybe I’m just a crazy person. Do you know though? Does life feel like it is [real](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra%C3%ABlism) or [unreal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal\_Engine) in these unprecedented times?

CMV: Companies should seek Candidates for Employment, not the other way around

With the advent of AI, internet requirement for everything, data extraction, and scammers/ghost accounts/bots I think that companies seeking to hire competent employees should cater towards hiring candidates for jobs they would be efficient, productive, skillful, etc in.

It’s a huge waste of time, energy, and resources for potential employees (many of whom are in debt, on low wages, with certain constraints like transportation, or other concerns/issues) to run the HR gamut of multiple interviews, presentations (including dress code; $), and contending with an ocean of job boards and fake/scam postings (which extract data, especially if you are a creative with a portfolio) to seek out jobs.

We live in a global economy, so employees are expected to search every company the world over to find their best career path?

Granted, not everyone has a specialized skill or interest, but if a candidate was sought or needed in another country, how would they even know? Propaganda/marketing only goes so far. It’s like if a rural area needed a doctor, the doctor is just supposed to be willing as well as able to find that area, or would the area call for a doctor on retainer?

Companies have much more resources than the individual, and if the individual is sought after, the only option is to market to them which is a strange roundabout way of “leading the victim”, it could be argued.

Companies should directly woo candidates and fix their onboarding processes for stellar candidates, especially since the “prestigious” jobs in USA like STEM or tech jobs have just been laying people off by the 10s of thousands.

Like, you want us or you don’t, let’s not do this weird controlling, toxic relationship thing where we have to be chained (with the links being healthcare, monetary allowance, and “success-status” in certain tiers of society) to a desk we had to crawl and beg for that we can just be fired for saying the right/wrong thing in front of the right/wrong person (even after work hours). It’s a broken power-dynamic that there is no excuse for.

Do you want the work to be done or do you want the work to be done right?

AI could probably sort everyone into their perfect place of living and place of working with ease, but instead we are all contending with hundreds to thousands of other candidates with not always the most meritous candidate getting the position, sometimes it is nepotism or because lunch was eaten by the right person at the right time that particular day.

Companies seeking out qualified candidates is much more efficient and frictionless process than individuals having to contend with little resources, fraudsters, and much more liability than companies or entities would ever face.

People & Planet

And [Self & Society](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eyYjvWhAFsw&pp=ygUNU3RhciBsb3JkIGVnb9IHCQnTCgGHKiGM7w%3D%3D&ra=m)

The religious iconography is just compressed philosophical/theological Common Sense subjects.

Mother Mary / Mother Earth

Baby Jesus / the insignificant individual (I Am a person) who has the awareness and capacity to make choices of the betterment of self/society/environment.

The Bible says Jesus was divine and human; perfect and flawed; immaterial and material.

These are compressed concepts that can be reflected on any individual. Don’t get caught up in old books full of contradictions created, edited, and dispersed by men for men.

Men who commit war commit war on themselves and society and the environment in any number of ways.

If we look at the Tarot, The Devil represents the ruler of the Material Realm. We all exist in the Material Realm, so if we take any action that is the equivalent of devilry.

Don’t get caught up in the religious aspects, those ideologies are just ancient ethics codes/laws/stories/compressed philosophical-theological concepts. It’s not heresy or anti-religion or blasphemy to discuss these topics, otherwise the topics would never exist to begin with.

Acknowledging that there is no Jesus without Mary should go a far way into the “Battle of the Sexes”, identity politics (let your freak flag fly, but do no harm; be kind), and race relations (it’s just 1, the human race).

These are just high-end compressed concepts.

This post brought to you by you.

Big Tabloid™️, subsidiary of Big Spectacle

Candace Owen’s podcast came into my know-knowingsphere after learning about it from mentions on another podcast.

I have enjoyed podcasts over the years, but have cut down significantly from 2-4/day to ~1/day.

“Candace”, her podcast title, is enjoyable in ways others aren’t. I’m fairly new to watching, and I find her humor entirely endearing. So far her show has covered mythology, religions, and a how-to on investigations and law; all very interesting topics.

Since I’ve been watching, she has been covering the Charlie Kirk assassination/case, which is kind of a big deal in the USA if what she has been uncovering is true.

I guess she and Charlie were friends, so it’s been kind of cathartic for me to watch her investigating the case of his assassination with such dogged devotion. This take might be vaguely morbid, and the whole ordeal is rather sad.

I didn’t know much about Charlie Kirk to be honest, but I did notice an uptick in online discussion before his death. A lot of people seemed as though they didn’t like him, but maybe they were bots and maybe I only saw a small swathe of internet users offering their opinions. I don’t know if they could claim to not like, as I don’t think they knew him, but they didn’t like his opinions might be the better choice of words.

I recall not having a neutral to not great opinion about him, but I’ve never watched him and my information was coming from scuttlebutt. I didn’t really think about him much because there is quite an ocean of content out there in contemporary times.

It was shocking to hear that he had died.

I had seen my mum shortly after the news broke. She had mentioned him before in the past, and she was quite sad with his passing. Talking with her felt like a cousin or close friend had died.

Around this time was when I started watching “Candace”; that’s when I learned they had been friends, and that she was working to discover the truth of what happened to him.

It has been cathartic to me watching her show because Candace has shown extraordinary nobility in the pursuit of justice for her friend.

If everyone in the world had a friend like Candace Owens, I think that the world would be a better place.

It doesn’t matter what “side of the aisle” one’s political leanings are, and this show has shown just that. What matters is that we are the *United* States, and it was wrong for Charlie Kirk to have died like he did. It’s wrong if there has been a coverup about it too.

It all seems a good turning point (ha) for all of us to realize that we are being willfully divided and pit against each other, like puppets not noticing our strings, over opinions and views we all are allowed to have. There’s so much to cover here, but I assume many have been following politics, the news, and current events; how could we not with so many screens in our daily lives?

This should be a good turning point for us to realize what matters in life, and what it’s all about.

Anyways, what she discussed in the linked episode and the purpose of this post is the notion of a “Show Trial”.

It seems like there is so much press around the upcoming trial of Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer, it’s become a spectacle. Much like having that Charlie Kirk tent photo-op thing or the selling of tee-shirts and other merchandise, and the seeming propping up of his widow.

Is this what our society has become? Are we collectively being pushed into consuming “Crime Entertainment”?

It feels like there is something wrong about the whole ordeal, making such a spectacle out of the whole thing. And here’s me adding into it.

It’s all just very sad. Maybe I’m getting too old. This isn’t how I thought of USA while I was growing up. Indeed, since 2010, for me, so much has changed so much. It sort of feels like bad reality TV, and almost like we each have our own show in the bad-reality-TV-universe. It’s sad and gross.

I could make some quips and embed links and connect dots and theories, but why bother?

I don’t view life as a spectacle. I can understand why many might choose to do so, but the whole Charlie Kirk ordeal is just really depressing to me.

Regardless of what you might think of him or view him, put yourself in his shoes. He built a huge organization based upon in-person debate, something so many claim to crave. He did the thing many want, and many spurned him for it because his favorite color is cerulean or vermillion or whatever is not their favorite color. It’s more nuanced than this, but the point is that he was a guy who strove for his American Dream and found it. He died for it.

There are so many people in our nation and the world who do the same thing everyday, but we often never know their name or even of their existence. Maybe that’s a good thing though, this kind of see-all public culture has only been around a couple decades.

I find it shameful the spectacle that Charlie Kirk’s life and death, and our lives watching it all, have become. A “Show Trial” just seems an ongoing tend of “Crime Entertainment”, maybe starting with the OJ Simpson trial. I can name 3 others many likely know, but maybe that’s just the evolution and nature of technology, attention, and our American culture.

I’m not sure, but I am sure that I’m grateful to know that people like Candace Owens exist.

Friendship is a sacred aspect of humanity, and as the old saying goes, “you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone”.

May the Charlie Kirk saga close in genuine good faith, justice, and the betterment of our society, so that he can rest in peace. May we all be better neighbors. And may we all learn to be better friends like Candace Owens exemplifies.
