Putting my Omnium on a diet before I do mine

Hey everyone,

At first I wanted to put a motor on my Omnium, but I eventually changed my mind. Instead, I decided to make it lighter and customize it a bit more to my taste.

The idea is to give myself some motivation to lose weight, get back in shape, and actually enjoy going out riding again.

I ride a stock Omnium Cargo V3 with the dropper seatpost and dynamo hub, which makes the bike relatively heavy.

So I started removing things I didn’t really need anymore. First was the child seat mount, now that my son is old enough, i also remove the tenders. Then I swapped the dropper post for a Thomson seatpost.
I didn’t really save weight there, but I also changed the saddle for a Brompton Swallow. I had an old TUNE handlebar lying around, so I installed it, and a cheap second hand TUNE stem should arrive soon.

I also changed the tires to a GravelKing SS+ 45mm in the rear and a Panaracer HP406 up front.

Honestly, the bike already feels completely different.
I didn’t realize how stiff a carbon bar could feel.

There are still a few things left to do, like finding a lighter crankset. After that, maybe it’ll be time to think about changing the wheel rims… or maybe even the whole wheelset.

If you guys have any ideas to make the bike lighter without spending thousands, I’m all ears.

Especially when it comes to the wheels.

(And yes, I know… the green grips have to go.)
