Hermit Obi update #1
I know he might not look much different, however, he now has a neck peg

I know he might not look much different, however, he now has a neck peg
Here is the progress so far. Just modified the bottom tunic portion today. The close up of the head was on the original body I intend to use, however, I decided to use a Kenobi figure instead. The bottom tunic and hands came from the original figure though. Not set on the hands. Might use some Rey or Jyn Erso hands instead. Just trying to noodle out making his tabards.
Here is a look into the process and end result of making a custom figure. The figure I was making here also goes with the first figure of Luke I made. This is what I think Obi-Wan might look like if he had trained Luke since infancy and not spent so much time on Tatooine.
Pic 1: First I acquired the main figure I needed.
Pic 2: Then I found the other figure I wanted to use in this custom.
Pic 3: The idea was to put the cloak on Ben so removing the arms was essential. The way I accomplished this was to put a pan of water on the stove and bring it to a lite boil. Drop the figures in for 30 seconds and place them on a towel. Using another towel pick up the figure and use the towel and pull on the part you want to pull off.
Pic 4: To get the arms to fit in the sockets a cut off most of the “nubs”.
Pic 6: After getting the arms in they were very loose so I got some thread seal to make them tighter.
Pic 7: In between taking this picture I trimmed his robe just a little bit. The Qui-Gon figure it originally came off was slightly taller so a few minor adjustments had to be done.
Pic 8: Lastly I repainted his hair and beard to make him look a little less aged and put his lightsaber in his hand and called him complete.
Hulk's molded legs on the new imposter Batman for boots?
Not much to say about this one. The title pretty much says it all.
This was the first custom Star Wars figure I ever made. It is a “what if” figure of what Luke would have looked like if he had been trained by Obi-Wan as a Jedi instead of being sent to live with his family. It was mostly just a repaint of a Phantom Menace Obi-Wan figure with a 90’s Luke Skywalker head. A little rough, however, I was happy with the result. Maybe I’ll have to do a remake some day?
Several years back I restored a vintage 1977 farm boy Luke. The one Luke that was missing the head was practically pristine other than being a little dirty. The Luke with the head didn’t just have a yellowed torso, but was all torn up. It looked like someone took a file to his belt and arm that housed the retractable lightsaber blade. Using a saw I liberated the head from the battered Luke and put it on the good body. After a wash with some dish soap he looked good as new. The blade is a reproduction, however, I would like to replace it with an original someday.
