I recently had a big, half-dead Silver Maple removed from my backyard and opted to leave the stump as an all-purpose feature of the yard.
The only issue is, from where it was rotting from the inside, there’s a pretty big C-shaped hole in the middle. It’s full of dirt/rotted wood so it’s hard to say how far down it goes. I’d like to fill this in to prevent rain from getting inside and accelerating the rot.
How would y’all go about this? Just brainstorming, I was thinking about knocking loose/clearing as much of the soft rot inside as possible, then pouring in concrete until there’s about an inch or so left. Then after the concrete dries I fill the rest with epoxy.
Thoughts?
