PURE SPECULATION: Blake's 2017 Interview, Where She Alleged Past Misconduct of A Makeup Artist On A Film Set - Could That Makeup Artist Be The Only Officially Documented Makeup Artist, Who Has Worked With Blake, That is a Black Man?

This post is purely my opinions and speculations. There is no concrete evidence; however, this subreddit allows for speculations and personal opinions; which may help create dialogues.

I may be wrong, but I was speculating the alleged makeup artist incident, that Blake spoke about in 2017, may or may not have been somewhat motivated by something else? Could there have been some racist undertones to the alleged incident? Could the makeup artist have not done any of the things Blake has claimed they have done? Could the makeup artist she was referring to be Carey Jones?

After doing some research and using the aid of AI to organize a list of points, that support my theory, this is what I have come up with:

Recap on what Blake alleged -

In October 2017, Blake Lively detailed her experience with an unnamed makeup artist during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, sharing the story to highlight systemic misconduct following the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

She alleged that the artist inappropriately applied her lipstick with his finger and once filmed her while she was sleeping on location, yet her complaints were ignored for months by producers who instead reprimanded her over a dressing room incident involving her dog, Penny.

The artist was only removed after Lively hired a lawyer, though she noted with frustration that he was given a letter of recommendation to ensure a smooth exit.

The Chronological "Case" and Speculative Evidence

2011: The "Savages" Intersection:

The Meeting: Carey Jones (Special FX Supervisor) and Bill Corso (Department Head) work together for the first and only time on the set of Savages.

- The Access: Jones’ role as an FX supervisor provided the "on-location" specialized access Lively described in her later claim.

August 2011: The "Penny" Connection

- The Dog on Set: Lively is extensively photographed with her Maltipoo, Penny, on the Savages set during this period.

- The Link: Lively stated that when she reported harassment, producers ignored her to instead reprimand her about her dog's behavior in her dressing room. Penny’s documented presence makes Savages the primary candidate for this incident.

Sept/Oct 2011: The "Three-Month" Removal

- The Timeline: Lively claimed the harassment lasted three months before a lawyer-led investigation resulted in the artist’s removal. Savages began in

- July; a three-month mark hits Sept/Oct 2011.

The Credit Technicality: Even if an artist is removed mid-production, they are typically still credited if they completed a significant portion of work. Jones retains his credit on the film.

Late 2011–2012: The "Recommendation" and Instant Success

- The Protected Exit: Lively noted the individual was given a letter of recommendation by a manager to avoid "bad blood," allowing him to move on without professional stain.

- The Career Jump: Carey Jones immediately transitioned into high-profile work, becoming a mainstay on The Walking Dead (2011–2012) and receiving an Emmy nomination shortly after the Savages period.

2012–Present: The "Inner Circle" Exclusion

- The Bond: After Savages, Bill Corso (the Department Head) became a permanent fixture in the Reynolds/Lively camp, designing the Deadpool series and The Age of Adaline.

- The Gap: Despite Carey Jones being a top-tier peer working on numerous other Marvel and DC films (like Suicide Squad and The Amazing Spider-Man 2), he was never brought onto a Corso-led Reynolds or Lively set again.

- The Argument: This "blacklisting" suggests that while the boss (Corso) remained a trusted ally, the artist who was "removed" (allegedly Jones) was permanently barred from their professional circle.

2017: The Demographic Identification

- Heritage: While not conclusive, theorists point out that Carey Jones is the only credited male member of the Savages makeup crew of Black/Native American heritage.

October 2017: The Public Disclosure

- The Allegation: Lively reveals the "terrifying" experience to the LA Times, describing the artist filming her while she slept and insisting on applying lipstick with his finger.

2024–2026: The Resurgence of the Narrative

- Pattern of Behavior: Amidst Lively’s recent legal battles regarding "hostile work environments" on the set of It Ends with Us, this story is frequently cited by the public as proof of her long-standing issues with industry producers.

- The Dismissal: While her recent 2026 harassment claims against Justin Baldoni were officially dismissed, this 2017 story remains a foundational part of her public stance on set safety.
