For budget travelers who stay in hostels: have you ever personally been offered a discount, free drink, free breakfast, upgrade, late check-out, or another benefit in exchange for leaving a hostel review?

I’m especially interested in first-hand experiences from Latin America, but any real traveler experience is useful.
