Is it possible to glue a torn rubber headstrap back together?

So I'm planning on buying a 40's gas mask and one of the straps was torn/cut/idk what happened to it.

Would it be possible to glue/attach it back together and still have enough structural integrity to be displayed/worn.

So if i hypothetically, purely hypothetically found a ww2 japanese civil protection gas mask for 10 bucks, would it be classified as robbery if i bought it.

It has the instructions, container, and everything included, the mask is in good condition apart from a tear in the strap
Also this post is largely a joke, but genuinely should i buy it
