I was randomly deciding to watch The Ant Bully the other day (I have no clue why, don't ask me). Film wasn't as horrendous as I was expecting it to be, but more importantly I made a pretty massive discovery: a part of composer John Debney's score for the film steals almost completely a part of James Newton Howard's score from Atlantis: The Lost Empire! I was able to recognise it as I am quite intimately familiar with Howard's music for the film, particularly the climactic battle from which Debney has plagiarised.

The similarities between the two climaxes is uncanny, with both having the characters fly around shooting at a giant object (blimp and ship respectively) in an aerial warzone. When listening its kind of unbelievably how much of a shameless rip-off it is. I'm confident its a rampant issue in composing, but this is an interesting example I don't think I have ever read anyone point out before. Guess it shows how little Debney cared for composing for the film - just recycle what came before. Have a listen above!
