Summer is here. How do you like this bag?

The bag comes in a bright, striking color that’s perfect for summer, but would it be hard to match with everyday outfits?

This is a picture sent to me by the seller. I haven’t placed the order yet. Could you help me take a look at this bag? Thank you.

Probably a small thing, but it made my whole morning today.

There's this security guard at my office building, maybe in his 50s, always standing by the elevator in the lobby. Every morning I rush in (usually like 2 minutes before I need to clock in lol), and he always presses the elevator button ahead of time, even holds the door for me. I'd just mumble "thanks" and dash in, never really thought about it.

But today was different.

Im off work, so no rush. Walked in slowly, he was there at his usual spot. I smiled and said hi, and he kinda paused for a second, then lit up and asked, "No rush today?"

That's when it hit me - he remembers me. He knows what I usually look like, and he noticed today was different.

I asked him how long he stands there each day. He said about 3.5 hours during morning rush. I was like, isn't that tiring? He just smiled and said, "Nah, it's fun helping U young folks catch your elevators."

I didn't know what to say honestly. Kinda choked up a bit. He could just stand there doing nothing, but he chooses to press buttons and hold doors for everyone, silently remembering all our rushed faces.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - sometimes there are genuinely warm people around us, we're just too busy to notice.

Just wanted to write this down. Maybe there's someone like this in your life too?

Okay so I used to think making friends would get easier as I got older. Like, you know yourself better, right? You know what you want and don't want.

But honestly... it's been the complete opposite 😂

I went to this "social gathering" last week. It was supposed to be a "wine tasting and making friends" kind of thing. Sounds nice, right? But I spent the whole evening having the same conversation over and over again:

"What do U do?"

"Where do U live?"

"Do U have kids?"

It felt like I was in a never-ending job interview. I came home absolutely drained. More tired than when I work overtime.

The funniest part? I talked to this one girl for like 40 minutes. Thought we clicked. We added each other on whatsapp. And then... nothing. No messages. No "let's grab coffee sometime." Just radio silence.

I don't know if it's just me. or is this how adults make friends now? Everyone's too busy? or too tired?

I lowkey miss how easy it was in high school. You just... ended up being friends with people. Same classes, same lunch table, and boom - you're best friends. No need to plan friend dates or whatever.

But then again, I did become pretty good friends with a coworker recently. Totally unintentional. We were waiting for the elevator and realized we're both obsessed with the same show. Now we get bubble tea every friday and just rant about the plot together.

So... maybe that's how it works? When you're not even trying?

Or should I actually go to more of those "networking" things?

I honestly don't know.

Just wondering - how do you guys make friends as adults?
