POTD: Lox & Co Victoriam Blue Label Clay Pomade
Quick thoughts:
The scent of this pomade is very faint. I pick up a lot on the earthy smell of the raw ingredients. The website doesn't provide any scent notes, but describes it as being sophisticated and mysterious with a hint of danger. This pomade could work well as a nearly unscented option.
It has a smooth consistency with a thickness to it, some stickiness, and is not too incredibly waxy. I could distinguish the clay very well upon breakdown, but that is not to say I felt it played much of a role in the overall finish.
It applies to damp hair with some tug and pull, but not too much. This pomade's slick aspect becomes apparent fairly quickly.
Performance: strong hold, medium shine, and a fairly slick and tight finish. It is advertised as a strong hold pomade, and this is accurate.
I can say from previous experience that this pomade indeed lasts the entire day with minimal shifting and little to no curls breaking loose. Restyling is also very easy.
Washout will require 1-2 rounds of shampoo, and it is fairly harder to wash out compared to Lox's medium hold matte clay pomade.
Overall, this serves as a go-to OB pomade for when I want to achieve a slick finish, which isn't often. The only other very slick-finish pomade I quite enjoy that comes to mind is PND’s Slick of it All. Even though these pomades don’t see as much use as others due to my usual preference for finish/style, there is no denying that when I do use them, they sure as hell deliver.
