Alocasia melo inflos

Yeah she’s only got one leaf.. but she’s pulling along.

I’m hoping to attempt cross-pollination again. (My ‘Dragon’s Breath’ is still flowering too.)

My Nepenthes are so ready to go outside

But even in May our local temps have been in the 40°s-50°s (F). They’ll just have to wait a few more weeks.

Alocasia ‘Blizzard’
Philodendron ‘Florida Ghost’
Monstera deliciosa ‘White Monster’
Monstera adansonii ‘Archipelago’

What do you have?

u/Xylem_King88 — 9 days ago

Alocasia heterophylla ‘Dragon’s Breath’ (Ignore that yellowing leaf behind the inflo, it’s the oldest leaf and it’s on its way out.)

(One of) my Amorphophallus konjac corms is about to flower for the first time (I believe). The spike started to show in February but didn’t move much until the past 2-3 weeks. It has double in size in the past week so it must be getting close!

What do you do with your self-pollinating Anthurium berries? My scandens it’s always covered in berries and the seed-crazy part of me says I need to save and sow every single one. I currently have 200 baby Anthurium scandens already growing. If I continue feeding the seed-sowing temptation, I won’t have any room left for anything other than Anthurium scandens.

I also realize that my scandens is still quite small. (And will get much larger, probably pushing out inflos the whole time)

I’m curious what you do with the Anthurium seeds you didn’t ask for?

In 2023 I started growing my own Hoya from seeds. Thus far, I have purchased all my seeds from online sellers but I hope to get my own seeds soon (I feel like 2026 is the year!)

I want to see your seed-grown Hoyas! Let us know in the comments if the seeds you used were purchased, spontaneously pollinated in your greenhouse, or intentionally hybridized.

I added a few photos of mine (various varieties)

My Anthurium scandens was purchased as a seedling and I threw it into a kokodama once it had about 6 leaves. That was almost a year ago.

She’s grown a ton and has even produced countless babies of her own! She recently decided that one growth point wasn’t enough and pushed out 5 new ones😵.

She’s watered once a week by soaking her in a tub of water with a diluted fertilizer for 15 mins. She hangs out in a south facing kitchen window.

Admire her with me😍
