The kite diver era and the so called "bad balance" that lead to it

I'm tired of people widely misusing/misrepresenting this period to justify their crap takes on weapon balance.

These people conveniently like to forget that this was when 500kg's were at their jankiest and even direct hits weren't a guaranteed kill, plenty of posts and videos on youtube of bile titans surviving, that's why people were running.

This was also during the period where the only useful grenade was the stun grenade, how on earth this gets remembered as the kite diver era is just funny considering everything that wasn't a bile titan was just getting stunned.

They also completely ignore the fact that bad players exist and there is nothing stopping those players from jumping on the harder difficulties. I'm also adding anyone who uses a controller into this category as well.

Performance issues. Game was in a lot worse of a state back then, I would regularly dip below 40fps in bigger fights, now sitting steadily at 120+. I've got a pretty decent rig, it was worse for my friends.

A lot of players will run off ahead leaving others to fight alone and or don't contribute to the fight. It's not the devs fault if the best/only solution is to run away due to a lack of teamwork from the players.

I'm tired of the dishonesty, I'm tired of people exaggerating or just straight up lying about past events.

I miss when the devs were based.

Now, obviously this is all terrible PR/unprofessional etc but it was a breath of fresh air clearly seeing that the devs had a clue about what harder difficulties were supposed to be.

Been seeing these "dev" messages being thrown around a lot recently completely stripped of any context painting them in a worser light so I fixed that. Devs were getting so much hate/shit on a daily bases but as soon as they fire a few shots back, suddenly everyone else is a victim.

As far as I'm concerned, these people are absolute morons, as the difficulty slider increases, the game should get harder and whatever makes the game too easy needs to get knocked down a few pegs and it was nice while it lasted that some devs also showed that they knew what difficulty meant.

The guy is absolutely spittin fire, PR nightmare but he spoke the truth.

What 5 things have arrowhead been caught shadow nerfing?

I'm stumped. A shadow nerf is something done in secret, something that's been done in such a way as to be deliberately deceptive.

The coyote is the only thing I can think of in helldivers 2 that has been truly shadow nerfed, I say truly here because the devs have been forgetting to put both buffs and nerfs into the patch notes since the first balance patch.

Even then, they were never "caught" shadow nerfing the coyote, it only came to light because a dev spilled the beans.

Any ideas to what 4 other things have been shadow nerfed?

  1. Coyote

  2. ?

  3. ?

  4. ?

  5. ?

What the hell does glazer even mean anymore?

Is glazer basically what they call others that have an opinion that doesn't align with theirs? Are they completely unaware that maybe, just maybe other players are not actually "glazing" but in fact like or even enjoy the devs balancing?

It's a word that's already lost all meaning as far as I can see among those that actually use it.

Out of all the sub groups that make up the community, the anti nerf people are just some of the dumbest people I've ever seen.

You're not actually "anti nerf", you're actually anti balance.

Pretty much the title, D10 completely changes as soon as everything is not being glassed from orbit.

As for warbonds, i'd personally limit gas grenades/ultimatum/thermite/stun grenades, if you can get a group that's willing to do that, you've got one hell of a horde shooter on your hands.

The difference is night and day when people are actually fighting the horde instead of just dance dance revolutioning 70% of it to death.

Every time there is a patch, there is always a flood of people rushing to misunderstand/misinterpret the patch notes kinda like this scene:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNTsbZCj7H4

I can't 100% hate on these people because at least they are showing signs of actually reading the patch notes which is a huge improvement, even if their literacy/retention skills are lacking.

Let's look at what I consider critical information from the devs:

>Exo suits rebalance

>We agree with the community that the Exosuits can take too little damage and break too easily, especially against the Automaton faction. Therefore we have made a bigger balance pass to increase its durability.

  1. Devs are listening to the community
  2. They agreed that the exo's died too easy against the bots
  3. They buffed the exo's to make them more durable.

This is straight up a positive. Devs listening to the community, buffing something that actually needs buffed and yet, a large part of the community are currently seething. Why?

  • We think automatons and illuminates do damage reasonably well against the vehicles especially now with the changes to the Exo suits, the Terminids however have fallen behind a bit in their ability to deal with vehicles so we have made some buffs to their damage against durable targets.

This here is the problem with these people, there is a severe lack of critical thinking skills. The devs felt that the exo's in their pre patch state were fine against the terminids and didn't need buffed - Whether this is true or not is up for debate but that's not the point, the point is the devs felt it was fine vs terminids with the pre patch balance.

Now, if the devs just buffed the exo's suits by roughly 95% and didn't change anything on the terminid front, these things would absolutely slap. So what did the devs do? They buffed terminid damage across the board - by an unknown % which we still don't know because data miners still haven't put that info on the wiki - and everyone lost their shit.

They're losing their shit because....exo suits are going to behave almost the exact same on the terminid front. Fucking hell.

This buff to Exo's wasn't to make them stronger vs bugs, the buff was to make them stronger vs automatons and somehow players are seething at this.

Next we have hive guards. I'm not going to write a huge wall of text detailing why I think turret spam is cancer and is a cheese tactic that's making the game far too easy but instead, let's talk about shadow nerfs.

This is a new thing that these people do. They immediately rush out to see what weapons have been inadvertently/indirectly affected by the change. The lastest one I seen was "APW shadow nerfed, can no longer one shot hiveguards". This shit absolutely annoys the shit out of me because it's not even a genuine attempt at discourse, it's just a desperate attempt to fling more shit and if they had a few more braincells to rub together, they'd realise that pretty much everything else got shadow buffed by the main health drop to 350. But no, lets not look for the positives, lets only look for bad things to misinterpret.

And what about the rest of the patch notes? It's straight up fucking buffs/improvements yet these fucks just focus on stupid shit.

  1. Gas got buffed - Why the fuck gas of all things got stronger is not something I will ever understand.
  2. Melee improvements - I still don't see the point in melee but it's still a buff.
  3. Ballistic backpack got a 400hp increase
  4. Spear got an ammo increase (spear is probably broken again)
  5. Flame/lazer sentry got buffed! (And like most things, arrowhead botched the delivery)
  6. Steralizer got buffed - Community have been asking for this for ages, whether or not its a meaningful buff is too early to say
  7. Bile titans spew AOE got nerfed.
  8. Heavy devastators shields can now be broken
  9. Rocket devastators rocket stagger got nerfed
  10. Warstriders hip joint got nerfed

But no, none of that matters. The only thing that matters is misinterpreting exo suit buffs/turret cancer being slightly less viable on the bug front.

EDIT: Tanks got buffed but I don't play against the bots so I don't really know how much of a buff they got, no idea what "All Tanks main body (bottom part)" really refers to.
