DJI Avata 360 – Goggles N3 and RC Motion 3 won't power on without USB connection to iPhone
Hi everyone,
I recently got the DJI Avata 360 Fly More Pack (Goggles N3 + RC Motion 3). Everything is activated, all devices are on the latest firmware, and the system works perfectly once connected.
The issue: Both the Goggles N3 and the RC Motion 3 will not power on independently. When I press the power button, the LED stays on for about 3 seconds and then turns off. They only stay powered on when connected via USB to my iPhone running DJI Fly.
Once connected and powered on via USB, I can unplug the cable and everything runs normally – video feed, control, flight – no issues at all.
What works fine without any USB:
- DJI Avata 360 (drone)
- DJI RC2
What I've tried:
- All firmware up to date (Goggles N3: V01.00.0900, RC Motion 3: V01.00.0200)
- Activated all devices via DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones) on PC
- Verified activation via DJI account
My theory: Since neither the Goggles N3 nor the RC Motion 3 have built-in GPS, DJI may require the phone connection at startup for Remote ID compliance. But I'm not 100% sure if this is by design or a bug.
My question: Is this normal behavior for this setup? Can anyone with Goggles N3 + RC Motion 3 confirm whether their devices power on independently without a phone connected?
Thanks!
