Germination Question
I had to take a break from growing about 8 years ago. I have about 60 different types of seeds that were stored in paper envelopes then canning jars so they were sealed. Then stored in a dark closet.
One week ago I tossed them in rapid rooter peat moss plugs, and into a germination enclosure (vents shut) and right under my grow light. Watered to keep moss moist every other day. Not one of the 10ish I tried to start has popped yet. Each plug has around 3-5 seeds in it (to account for some dead seeds)….but nothing.
Anyone have tips and tricks for increasing the success rate of germination? When the seeds were fresh this method had them all popping in a handful of days…I’m hopeful they’ll still pop, but preparing for plan B if they don’t. Quite a few favs that I’m growing this year, and always happy to ship some pods to say thanks for the advice if they come through.
Keeping it for the most part mild this year:
- Aji Pineapple
- White Devils Tongue
- Bengal Naga Red (my fav)
- Buckeye Buchela Red
- 7 Pot Bubblegum
- Sugar Rush Red (for got if good or not….)
- Carolina Reaper
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
