I’m honestly so mad that this whole year has been ruined by politics. I’m a pretty patriotic person, and normally I’d be overjoyed about all the 250‑year freedom celebrations. My building is covered in “Freedom 250” signage, and any other year I’d be all in.

But right now it just feels fake. The admin in the office, including my own elected representatives, clearly can’t stand me or the work I do. They make my job harder every single day, and it’s impossible to feel proud or celebratory when the people in charge seem to actively dislike the very people they’re supposed to represent.

I want to feel excited about these big national moments, but instead it all feels like a performance layered over a bunch of hostility. Anyone else feeling this disconnect?

I feel like a freaking parrot at this point. Constantly sharing the exact same health issues again and again

Edit: I was way too broad with saying AWS. I think more fitting name would be condensed schedules.

Basically the logic is that they already rescinded AWS for NBU employees last summer and since we are all NBU now, it is "illegal" for us to be on AWS. They told me they don't know when they are going to announce that everyone needs to switch to a non-AWS schedule, but I'm not allowed to switch from one AWS schedule to another.

Context: I was asking to switch from 4-10s to Maxiflex and I got denied.

I am so freaking pissed at these federal pay freezes. They make zero sense. All they do is push federal salaries so far behind the private sector that agencies end up hiring GS‑12s for what should be entry‑level jobs just to stay competitive. It completely screws up the entire pay system and helps absolutely no one.

Meanwhile, leadership is out here bragging about how we’ve “done more with less.” Cool. What’s my reward for stepping up, working overtime, keeping things from breaking, and carrying workloads that used to be split across multiple people?

Elimination of my union. Straight 3s. What amounts of a pay decrease due to inflation, and health premiums shooting up, And AI getting the credit for work I did.

It’s such bullshit and I’m tired of pretending it’s normal.
