How to tell my friend that they smell bad
(Im 18 they are 19) To give you some background, I’ve been friends with this person for a couple of years, and they’ve always struggled with showering because of their size. It’s gotten to the point where they don’t even bother putting on deodorant anymore. They used to be bullied about it, but they mentioned that people just said they stank because they were plus-sized, and our ex-friend has brought it up several times, along with their family. They just don’t believe it or want to fix it, so I’m not sure how to bring it up. It’s become so uncomfortable that I don’t want them to sit on my bed because it would make it smell bad, so I’ve made them their own space in my room. But then, they’ll sit in front of the fan with their arms up, just wafting the smell, because I don’t think they can smell it anymore. I feel like I’m a bad friend because I flinch every time they sit on my bed or in front of the fan. I’m worried that if I bring it up, it’ll be awkward, but it’s been bothering me so much lately.
