Questions About Changing Transmission Fluid
I have a 2006 Silverado 5.3 Z71 4x4. Bought it in 2018 with 68k miles on it, currently has 109k. Not sure if the transmission fluid has ever been changed. Truck shifts fine, and when I check the fluid and wipe the dipstick on a paper towel, it's still red. Also doesn't have any kind of burnt smell to it. Plan to keep this truck long term, so since hitting 100k, looking to do some maintenance to it.
Not doing a full flush, just want to drop the pan, change fluid and filter, and I'd like to put a new pan (with a drain plug) on it to make doing this in the future much easier. Is my list of parts below good? Anything I'm missing or I should also be checking/replacing while I'm in there?
- Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic Dexron VI ATF
- ACDelco #24208576 deep pan filter kit
- Gasket material is farpak, which is what I want, correct? Stay away from cork?
- Dorman 265-811 pan
- Anyone have experience with this? Apparently it's a good, direct replacement pan, but the drain plug leaks due to the crappy included washer. Replacing with a nylon washer fixes the problem.
