Anong thoughts nyo sa sinabe ng UP IESM lab na Monterrazas did not contribute to flooding during typhoon Tino—it actually helped mitigate the flood?🤷‍♂️

What do you think about the "study" done by Environmental Hydrology lab of UPD IESM?

They concluded that: "The results show that Monterrazas de Cebu did not make flooding worse within its own watersheds. In fact, the detention ponds located upstream [from Monterrazas] helped control the situation by slowing down and delaying the strongest flow of water, even during extreme rainfall."

Issues:

  1. It's not really a published/peer reviewed study...closest thing I can find is a facebook post from Environmental Hydrology lab of UPD IESM. This was then taken as ultimate " objective facts" by media and Slater Young even tho the methods used including calibration and validation of results used by the study is unclear and unstated sa post

  2. The study ( explicitly admits) it used data supplied by Mont group...the developer of Monterrazas. Conflict of Interest?

  3. Another professor from UPD (wont reveal who but they are in an allied field who is also an expert in Typhoon) publicly stated thru FB post that the "detention pond" used by the study was merely assumed to exist...meaning wala pa talaga ang detention ponds.
