Why are flights to Ushuaia so expensive compared to Punta Arenas?
Hi everyone, I was looking at flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and from Santiago to Punta Arenas, and I noticed a significant difference in price. Flights to Ushuaia with Aerolíneas Argentinas cost, on average, about 2.5 times more than flights from Santiago to Punta Arenas. I’m wondering why that is.
I also noticed that, aside from the capital cities, there are no daily flights between Punta Arenas and Ushuaia, or between most parts of Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia.
