Consequences of a stolen passport
Location: Italy
I’m a non-EU citizen. Three years ago, I went to Italy for exchange for a semester. I left Italy before I could give my biometrics for resident permit. I have never been to Italy ever since.
My passport was lost/stolen on the day I was supposed to leave Italy. I immediately reported to police station and got a temporary travel document from local consulate.
Fast forward to three years later, my prospective employer wants a Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale from Italy.
The question is: How likely is it that there was a conviction to my name because someone used my stolen passport to commit crime? I have never been communicated or contacted. However I am not sure how would Italian police contact me at all. What should I do if there is a conviction under my name committed by someone else ?
