I’m not that into the non-transforming toys (third image) but they were part of the lot and I’m happy with the purchase overall. I really like the transforming Rescue Bots toys, they’re so simple but clever and fun. I think it’s super cool how they managed to make both modes look really good for each of them while still maintaining a super simple transformation (only one or two steps). IMO they even look better than a lot of more complex transforming toys, there’s never any kibble!

Apparently in 1999, Hasbro made a toy line based on the Animorphs series of books, but they were also part of the Transformers series even though they weren't connected to the Transformers universe/franchise. The line didn't do well so it was cancelled early, and the unreleased figures were rebranded as Beast Wars figures.

While I'm tempted to make fun of the toys because the human modes are really weird, I really don't know how to do it any better. Like, I have no idea how one could make a toy that transforms from a normal human to an animal without making one of the modes look wrong. It looks like they did a good job on the animal forms but the human forms suffered.

So, it's pretty obvious that Signalis takes a lot of inspiration from the King in Yellow. However, when most people discuss the King in Yellow, they usually only discuss the first four stories in the book since they're directly connected to the play and the King itself. However, I think Signalis makes a lot of sense if you consider the fifth story, "Demoiselle d'Ys".

"The Demoiselle d'Ys" is about a 19th-century man named Philip that gets lost in a moor in Brittany and gets taken in by the Countess Jeanne d'Ys, who is a falconer. She teaches him about falcons and falconry, and he notices that her home, language, and clothing are all very similar to medieval literature on falconry. The two fall in love, and Philip makes a promise that he will return and visit Jeanne every single day and that they will be in love forever. However, when they are discussing her falcons, Philip is bitten by a viper and dies. He awakens again in the moor and rushes to find her, but finds a gravestone marked 1573 that says Jeanne killed herself over the death of her lover, a stranger named Philip. On top of the grave is Jeanne's glove, still warm and recently worn.

So, we have a story about a pale woman with a close connection to falcons and her lover who makes a promise to her that they will be together. However, the promise cannot be fulfilled because one of them dies and is from a different time period. I think this explains a lot about Signalis. The promise that Elster made to Arianne is that they will be together forever, but she cannot keep that promise because she died on the Penrose and Arianne was kept in stasis. They, like Philip and Jeanne, are stuck in a time loop that repeats forever because the promise cannot be kept. Arianne desires death, but death is not an escape from the cycle. Only by keeping the promise and reuniting forever can the cycle be broken.

So, I really want more games to do creative things with Amiibo. I think they aren't utilized nearly enough and oftentimes they don't really do that much. What ideas do you have for how Amiibo can be used in games?

Here's one of my ideas. Since Minecraft Steve and Alex have Amiibo, it would make sense for the Switch version of Minecraft to make use of Amiibo. However, since the game has other versions, Amiibo shouldn't have a huge effect that feels unfair to other versions. My idea is that scanning Amiibo could give the player an exclusive music disc that would work on jukeboxes. So, scanning a Mario character would give the Mario theme song, a Zelda character would give a Zelda song, etc. The Steve and Alex ones could just give a random disc that's already in the base game. They could only be used once each, or at least have a cooldown on when they could be used.
