My Collection so far
I just started my AH HeroQuest collection last month. Funny story. About 10 years ago I bought my original MB HQ at a Half Priced Books in Richardson for $175. I played it with my nephew a few times before it got shelved after some piss poor paint jobs I attempted sucked the enjoyment out of it for me. The whole box just became a "grey pile of shame" for me. When Avalon Hill announced the rerelease I was ecstatic but broke as hell.
About a month ago I almost bought a brand new copy of AH HQ at Madness but decided it was just too expensive, $140. I then drove down the road to the same Half Priced Books as before, on a whim, and spotted this pristine copy of AH HQ on a cart waiting to be shelved. Priced at $80. Literally half what I would have paid up the road. I snatched it immediately.
A few days later I got my bonus check from work and hit the online stores. I even gave Madness some business and bought 3 of my expansions there. I have the Monk arriving tomorrow and the Wizards of Morcar on order. I even got a jumbo, neoprene, double-wide-hallways version of the board from GripMats on Etsy. I have spent well over $400 on Hero Quest in just a little under a month.
I love this game and thankfully so does our gaming group. I love this community. Mostly because it is a relief to see that I'm not the only one who has spent way too much money on a board game. 😆
