Final humiliation as a renter

Finally bought a place. Moving out of our rental (20+ years of renting multiple houses across Sydney). The agent has booked an open home the day before we move. Boxes everywhere, house is an absolute mess. We live close to our kids' school where my wife is a teacher so people will be coming through the house who likely know us.

Utter. Embarassment.

Moving out of rental - Pacific Blue are saying Ausgrid need to disconnect electricity w/$230 fee

My retailer, Pacific Blue, won't let me just close my electricity account at my rental when we move out next week. Even though I have a smart meter which lets them read remotely, they apparently have to send AusGrid out to disconnect electricity when I move out, unless someone else starts an electricity account in this house on the same day (which they won't).

The disconnection fee is $230. I called AusGrid and they said this is because Pacific Blue aren't licensed to do remote disconnections. In my 20+ years of renting (finally bought a place, thank goodness), this is the first time I've EVER had something like this happen. Apparently if I had a dumb meter, it would just be a final meter read, but because I have a smart meter, it's an Ausgrid call out to read-and-disconnect. Makes no sense to me.

Anyone else been screwed over by this with cheaper retailers before?

What's it like to be a partner at one of the big 4 consulting firms?

I run a small consulting practice and am doing relatively well for myself, but I work my absolute tail off. 6-7 days per week, 12-14 hours days... I am the one finding new business, overseeing the consulting work, doing consulting and delivery as well... And I find myself wondering sometimes, is this what partners at the big firms do? What does it take to earn some of those salaries? It does seem risky being a partner at these firms, since they seem to get chopped pretty regularly, but what's the work actually like? Anyone on here got experience with that world?
