A few days ago I lent my sister an HT to try and see if we could connect via a repeater. She lives about 75 miles away as the crow flies. There's a repeater on the Promontory peninsula in the Great Salt Lake and I was able to contact her tonight via that repeater. This repeater thing is magical! I remember as a little kid having walkie talkies that only worked a mile or two and these little things could hit all 3 counties away!
