Vision 4D MAS aero bar arm cup failure on moderate bump—lost confidence in product
I was riding about 20 mph on a paved route and hit a pretty ordinary manhole cover while in aero position, and I felt the arm cup crack under me. Didn’t lose balance but if I was on a curve or going faster downhill or just wasn’t paying attention, this could’ve been a bad crash. I got this just over two years ago so it’s right outside the warranty period. This was a $750 integrated dropbar/aerobar handlebar system—really expected it to be able to absorb a bump in the road. I’ve pretty much lost confidence in the product after this and don’t think I’m going to repair it. Not sure if I’ll run aero bars on a road bike again frankly.
Stuck in a loop of indecision around these two seat posts—looking to add some comfort with as little weight penalty as possible for longer rides on gravel routes that are often littered with washboard, frost heaves, and potholes. Currently have zipp service course alloy seatpost and cockpit, redshift aerobars. Welcome any thoughts or experiences.
