Dear all,
Thank you so much for everyone that will take the time to read this and help me with any kind of suggestion.
First let me introduce briefyl myself, I am a long time "standard" Dj still using Vinyls and slowing opening to "Digital Era" after buying a Pioneer Stand Alone XDJ-RX3 to stand alongside the Turntables. Lately I also started my trip to music production by buying, in the last 2 years, a Digitakt II and a Minlogue XD with the idea to create my first DAWless hobby music production angle. I liked a lot the Digitak II as well as the Minilogue XD as my first synth, but at some point I feel the needs to create more punchy basses for house/techno/soundtrack and, pushed by a shop assistant, I bought a MOOG Messenger.
Admitting that I am not et all an experienced users and that I did not take so much time learning the Moog Messenger, I have to admit that after the first Enthusiastic period, I found myself not really happy with it for basically 3 different reasons:
-Despite the sound is great at first, I found it some time too much aggressive and too much "standalone" as if it constantly try to sound over or the rest of the song instruments.
-I did not tolerate the lackness of any screen and numeic parameters like instead it is on the Minlogue XD. What I am trying to say is that i really like, when moving one knoob, to actually see the numeric parameter change a numeric value so i can be super precise in my settings, Like choosing the right Tempo or the exact amount of tune/detune.
-Despite I found the Messenger to be quite intuitive to use at first (like 1 knob per function), i then lost interest in it because i found not intuitive et all trying to dig into the more advanced features and settings, giving me the impression of an overall too complicate Synth for my actual needs.
-Ok this is a minor things but the Messenger is quite too big for my Desk so a smaller intrument could be a benefit.
Saying that I have the chance to sell the messenger for an honest price and i have in my mind to buy the Novation BassStation II as a substitute. My questions are:
-Am I doing a really WRONG move? Like selling a treasure to buy some trash just because i am not really take the right time to learn it?
-Have you any Toughts about the Novation Bass Station II, like it can have good an punghy basses or it is way to similar to the Minilogue XD (I found the Minilogue amazing but for basses it is quite flat)?
-have you any alternative to the Messenger that can be fulfill my needs?
Thank you so much!
