If you run Google Ads for a local business, check this one setting right now
Quick tip that's quietly costing local businesses thousands every month.
Go to Google right now and search 'car washing in Texas'. You'll see a bunch of sponsored results. Now here's the problem: I'm sitting in a different part of the world and I see those same ads. Every time someone like me clicks out of curiosity, that business is paying for a click that will never become a customer.
The fix is one toggle.
In your campaign's location settings, Google defaults to 'Presence or interest' which means anyone who has ever shown interest in your target location can see your ads, regardless of where they actually are. Switch it to 'Presence' and Google will only show your ads to people physically in your target area.
That's it. One setting. And I'd bet half the local business campaigns running right now have it wrong.
If anyone wants a free audit, drop a comment. No catch, I don't sell anything. I'm a performance marketer and I just want to get more reps in.
