my girlfriend (lesbian, 23) got her hair cut by a lesbian hairdresser. she said that she didn’t seem interested in talking to her and was maybe a little short, and I said it might be because you looked straight. she was shocked by this. she does not understand what I mean when I tell her that this is the straightest shirt she owns, and to be honest, I don’t know how to explain it. It just is.

tl;dr - can someone explain to my girlfriend why this shirt makes her look straight

i’ve been lurking all year so just wanted to share my application season!

- domestic applicant
- 3.5 GPA at a small liberal arts college, neuroscience major bio minor
- neuroscience REU at a top 10 school
- 1.5 years of research at my home institution, completed a research thesis (PI was my primary recommender, I believe this was a big support in my apps)
- no significant awards or extracurriculars
- no current pubs, two upcoming (one first author)
- currently doing a gap year internship at a global pharmaceutical company, unrelated to neuroscience

I only applied to programs in neuroscience and biomedical sciences very limited by location on the east coast, applications were only withdrawn after I received acceptances and wasn’t hearing back from them (so basically ghosted lol)
