Simple midi mapping advice

first time caller alert!

Hi,

I am looking for some advice with MIDI mapping in Ableton Live.

Currently, I have my MIDI controller mapped to third-party synths like u-he Diva. This is mapped in the synth and not Ableton. The controller controls whichever track is record-enabled. However, I am experiencing different behavior when using Ableton’s native MIDI mapping for stock plugins (such as a filter).

In my default template, when I map a controller to a stock plugin, it remains locked to that specific track. If I create multiple tracks with the same plugins, the controller continues to adjust the initial track only, even when that track is not record-enabled.

How can I configure stock and other third-party plugins to behave like Diva, where the MIDI controller automatically switches to control only the track that is currently record-enable?

thanks!!
