Choosing GIM over IIM Calcutta, and this is something y’all should do.
Here are the reasons :
(1) Let’s talk about the campus environment. At IIM Calcutta, they brag about their "beautiful seven lakes." Do you know what lives in lakes? Mosquitoes. Giant, intellectual mosquitoes that probably scored a 99.9 percentile in blood-sucking. And let’s not forget the literal snakes lurking around the campus.
Meanwhile, at GIM, I am nestled in the serene Sanquelim hills. The only thing "wild" here is the sheer velocity at which people down kingfishers on a Friday night. It’s called prioritizing mental health.
(2) Yes, yes, IIM Calcutta is the "Finance Campus of Asia." If you want to sell your soul to a high frequency trading firm or pull 100-hour weeks as an Investment Banking analyst in a windowless Mumbai office, sure, Joka is great. But I realized I possess a rare trait called self-love. Why grind over complex derivative pricing models in the gloomy Kolkata humidity when I can study brand positioning while looking at a palm tree? GIM teaches you the real marketing mix: Sun, Sand, Surf, and ... Sustainability.
(3) Ultimately, I looked at the two options. Option A: Graduate from IIMC, get a stressful job, and spend the next ten years saving up money so I can finally afford a luxury vacation to Goa. Option B: Just move to Goa right now.
(4) I cut out the middleman. That’s called strategic cost-cutting. Truly, my business acumen is unmatchable.
