I was arriving at my apartment after a long day at work. The hallway was silent, dimly lit with a cold light. As I took my keys out of my pocket, I heard a loud sigh behind me.
I turned around, and there was something at the end of the hall. A tall figure, too tall, with a strange, disproportionate body. I couldn't see its face clearly, but its eyes glowed in the darkness. I didn't know what it was, but it definitely didn't look friendly.
I tried to open the door, but my nerves were getting the better of me. My hands were shaking, and I couldn't get the key in. I felt like it was going to come closer at any moment. At that moment, I took out my phone to take a picture, as if to have proof that I wasn't crazy. And right then, the light went out, plunging everything into complete darkness. An eternity passed before the light returned and when it did, the creature was no longer at the end of the hall. It was much closer coming toward me.
Desperate, I managed to snap the photo and almost without looking, I opened the door and slipped inside. I slammed it shut and stood there in silence, trying to understand what had just happened. When I peeked out again there was nothing there; the hallway was completely empty. But the photo is still on my phone and I haven't slept soundly since that day.
