I’ve been building Android music widgets inspired by old media players for a bit now

(the ones in the image are real widgets, most of them are already in my free app (WidgetStack), a couple are still in testing)

inside the app there’s a list that shows what’s available + what’s “coming soon”, which is where I’ve been experimenting with some of the weirder designs

I also recently came across this super small social site that’s basically Frutiger Aero / early 2000s themed and it feels like the exact same vibe

it’s still tiny, but that kind of makes it interesting right now

I ended up talking to the guy running it and I’m trying to bring a few more people in

if you sign up and message (@Arian) that “onda sent me”, then DM me (@onda_dev) and I’ll get you into the early build group so you can try the “coming soon” widgets before they go into the free app

the public app is free (no ads), I just use the beta builds to test new stuff before it rolls out

curious if anyone else is into this style or if I’m just deep in it at this point lol

Been experimenting with bringing some Y2K / aero-style media designs into actual Android widgets.

These are 4 I recently added:
• Nexus
• Pulsebar
• Sonix
• Symphora

I didn’t create the original designs, but I adapted them into working widgets and tried to keep that glossy / glassy feel intact.

They’re currently in an early access version of my app (WidgetStack Next) while I’m refining things, but they’ll eventually make their way into the main app (WidgetStack, which is free).

Curious if these still feel true to the Y2K aesthetic or if they lean too modern.

I’ve been experimenting with a new release setup:

The main app (WidgetStack) is completely free and stays that way.

I also made a separate app called “WidgetStack Next” where I put early builds, new designs, and experiments first. It’s basically a way for people to support development and try things early.

Everything eventually makes its way to the main free app, Next just gets it first while I’m still refining things.

Curious what people think, especially which one you’d actually use daily.
