I’m an incoming freshman student at a T5 engineering Uni in the UK and I wanted advice on both my resume itself and stuff I could do in the meantime that I could add to help with applications to internships/clubs. (already planning to do a 4/5 DoF robotic arm with motor integration and python coded camera tracking abilities)

A few questions:

The Uni does have really good ECs (rocketry team, FSAE etc.) but is there anything else I could do that is a bit more unique to help differentiate myself from the average intern applicant?

I want to gain some sort of experience in the US in the coming few years. Apart from internships (which are disgustingly competitive for intl apps) are there any labs/research groups etc. that I should also consider?

I omitted some work experiences from my resume because I felt like they weren’t that relevant (one was a weeklong shadowing experience with a quantitative analyst at a commodities trading firm and the other was a part time job in junior sports coaching) - should I add them back?

Also, why is everybody on this sub obsessed with the wiki templates? Do they help with ATS?
