I always loved this shot. It perfectly conveys Vergil's feelings towards his mother and why he is the way he is.

I always loved this shot. It perfectly conveys Vergil's feelings towards his mother and why he is the way he is.

All these years later, he still loves and misses her. Perhaps there was some resentment over her dying protecting Dante before she could get to him but Vergil at this point is wise enough to know it wouldn't have made a difference - because Eva was human and the human body is fragile.

That's why Vergil rejected his human half for as long as he did - because he feared it would make him fragile too and that would mean he'd get hurt again. And that is also why he never allowed anyone to get close to him because they might get hurt if he was not strong enough to protect them - just like with his mother.

As he told Dante seconds earlier, "Might controls everything, and without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself." - he wasn't just talking to his brother but reaffirming everything he believes in to himself.

The two child soldier girls who invaded another country, earned the protagonists' trust then betrayed them, caused major collateral damage and killed a bunch of people, including both civilians and allies of the protagonists. One is hated, one is beloved.

What was the first anime/manga that you watched/read AFTER finishing AOT?

Back in late 2023, Pluto dropped on Netflix a little over a week before AOT's finale aired and I was slowly making my way through that at the time. I had watched Monster for the first time earlier that year and was excited to check out Urasawa-sensei's other work.

And I dug it. It was my second favorite anime of 2023 behind Vinland Saga S2 but just above Frieren S1 and Apothecary Diaries S1. It was a great year to be a weeb looking back.

Though ngl, back-to-back stories highlighting the horrors of war did mess me up which combined with the pacifist themes of Vinland Saga S2 and Trigun Stampede from the beginning of that year put me into a bit of a hippie mindset I don't think I've ever fully escaped.

“My friends, I’ve gathered you here this evening to say: going to war with that island is a terrible idea. Yes we may be the world's military superpower but still we realistically have no counters to them. I say let's give diplomacy another try because the Rumbling sounds like it'll fucking hurt."

What would Eren have done in this moment if Willy said "Know what? Let's leave Paradis alone"?

"They possess too much power for us to make an enemy out of, let's maybe make peace with them after all. And as for the rest of you Eldians? Hmmm I'll think on it."

Would be a bit awkward for him and his comrades up in the air to attack now...

When being "The Strongest" fucking sucks

Levi from Attack on Titan - outlives most of his comrades, carries their memory with him as he fights to free humanity.

Saitama from One Punch Man - bored due to being overpowered, constantly striving for a new enemy that will pose an actual challenge to him

Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen - see both above

Dante from Devil May Cry, specifically the 2007 anime and DMC2 - in addition to unresolved childhood trauma from witnessing his mother's death and later the guilt of supposedly killing his own twin brother, Dante faces no real challenge as he goes about his day-to-day life killing demons with ease. But at least his mood lightens from DMC4 onwards when he learns he has a nephew.

Skips from Regular Show - immortal

Which characters would not get along with the versions of themselves from earlier seasons?

I can't see the pretentiously altruistic, speech-making modern Kyle being too fond of his vulgar, baby-kicking classic self from the early days.

For what reason is Gabi scared of Eren in the restaurant scene? Is it PTSD-related to the Liberio invasion or is the threat of him transforming and destroying the restaurant and everyone inside?

Been arguing with people on the SNK sub. They insist that it's the former but I think it's more the latter - specifically Gabi worrying that Falco and the Braus family might get killed (piled on top of everything else that happened earlier in the restaurant that led to her existential crisis).

Considering in two of the next scenes involving the two of them interacting Gabi gets a gun and has no problem aiming it at Eren - even shooting his head off in the last one - I'm pretty sure she has little fear towards the walking WMD when she's 1. armed and 2. he poses no immediate threat to those she cares about.

In hindsight this scene is pretty hilarious because Armin, Gabi and Mikasa could have just disobeyed Eren and he wouldn't have done shit.

Of course they couldn't have known it at the time but the guy was never gonna fucking risk killing his two best friends by transforming right in front of them - that was made clear as soon as Armin punched him. Sure Armin would survive if Eren transformed thanks to his healing factor but Mikasa's chances are much lower. Not even mentioning the risk it poses to Hange, Jean and Connie in the other room.

(Hilarious IRL trope) *Throws subtlety out the window when it comes to naming their characters*

JRR Tolkien - The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit. Examples: names a bearded tree Treebeard, names Sauron's right hand man Saruman, names a female spider Shelob.

Hideo Kojima - Metal Gear, Death Stranding. Examples: names a fat man Fatman, names a man with a burnt face showing his skull Skull Face, names the final boss of the game Big Boss, names the main stealthy character who sneaks around Snake.

The FIRST Avatar is named Wan. The TOUGH earthbender is named Toph. The girl Sokka LIKES is named Suki. You won't believe what Combustion Man does...

Who wrote this shit - Hideo Kojima??

Who would they build the men's roster around?

(Obviously excluded Kevin Owens because he is injured)
