Elysium remake update! 05-10

Hello kindred!

As some of you were interested in seeing my progress. Here are this week's updates.
Ideally, I would've stayed blocking out more of the spaces with simple volumes. But I got a bit carried away with the banisters. haha

So, progress this week is detailing the main railing shape on the sides of the main hall, and the one over the fountain.

I'm focusing on really nailing the shapes and dimensions of the elements. Leaving the models clean and prepared to add more of the surface detail once I reach the texturing stage.

I wont be able to post this next week, but I'll try my best to give you a bigger update on my next post.

Cheers!

Hey! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

After the game was shut down, I started thinking about a way to honor it.

Streaming was never really my thing, so I never had much reason to record my matches. But on the last day the game was live, I went around recording as much of Elysium as I could. Originally, I just wanted to keep it as a memory. But as the week went on, I started feeling like I wanted to do something more to celebrate what this game meant to me.

I played Bloodhunt back in early access. I’m not completely sure of the year, but it must have been around late 2020 or early 2021. I had just moved out of my parents’ place and started working as a 3D artist. I remember downloading the game and trying to run it on my trusty 2017 GTX 1050 laptop. It ran terribly, but I had fun anyway.

A lot of time passed after that. Then, around October 2025, after the launch of Bloodlines 2, I suddenly got the urge to play again. That was when I heard the news. After that, I played the game religiously until I got the platinum.

During those last few months, I kept running into so many fun people, usually while getting killed by the same handful of names over and over again. I didn’t really engage with the community until the last couple of streams, but seeing those same names again and again made it feel like I had found something close to friends.

A little more about myself: since 2020, I’ve worked on a few games, going from 3D generalist to Environment Artist, and I’m currently working as a Technical Artist.

By random chance, I never really had the need or the time to properly learn Unreal Engine. I’ve tried to start a few times, but I always got distracted by other things or lost interest. After seeing how passionate some members of this community still are, I decided this could be my chance to set a real goal and give it my best.

So I’m planning to recreate Elysium to the best of my ability, using my own work and the footage I recorded as reference.

Just to be clear, this is intended only as an environment art tribute, not a fully playable remake. As much as I’d love to build something bigger, I can’t realistically commit to that kind of scope, and I want to keep this respectful as a non-commercial fan project.

Disclaimer: I’m just one dude, so this will probably take a loooong time to complete. I still have a 9-to-5 job, so I’ll be working on it in my free time.

If people are interested, I’d be happy to post weekly updates.

I really hope this isn’t against the rules or anything. I just want to give something back to the community for keeping the game alive long enough for me to play it one more time.

Thank you, guys.
