How do you handle sequins on vintage items? Got my first 3 star review
I just started back reselling last week after taking a break for a year. I have 216 sales on Depop, 75 reviews, 2 of them 4 star, the rest 5. Vinted has been going well for me now and just sold a few things.
I just got my first non-5-star review on there, and this is only my 6th one so my average is down to 4.7, and I know I shouldn’t be dramatic lol but it does suck when I don’t have a long history on there yet.
It was a Y2K top (15–20 years old), and I did describe it as vintage and photographed it carefully. I only noticed one loose sequin when handling it, and overall it seemed in really good condition for its age.
I completely understand that it could be disappointing if more came loose during shipping, but I’m also wondering how much wear is just expected with older item like this.
For those of you who sell this kind of stuff, doo you include disclaimers specifically about sequins/beading potentially falling? Is this a common issue you run into with buyers? Do you do anything differently in packaging or descriptions to prevent situations like this? Should I do a test to see if they will stay on before picking up to sell? I have sold a lot of sequins stuff so don’t like leaving it behind, but definitely want to improve and avoid this happening again.
Also is it worth it for me to offer a return in order for her to take the review down?
