My F-1 expired in July 2024 and I’m currently on STEM OPT which expires July 2027. I want to visit home at the end of the year which means I would have to renew my F-1 there.

I’ve been on a J-1 visa as an exchange student, then F-1 to finish my senior year of high school here, and my current F-1 for my bachelors. I didn’t get selected in the H1-b lottery this year.

Is it too big of a risk? Would appreciate anyone sharing your experience with the process!
