So after going back and forth(with help with comments from this channel) I decided to finally buy the F2-424 as Amazon had it back at a price I could afford. I clicked buy and the order was taken and then I looked at the display on my F2-212 that it was replacing and the final spare HDD died during a rebuild. As HDD are more important I cancelled and now am going to spend the budget on two new Iron Wolf drives, and then will slowly save up to replace the NAS again at a later date. So sad 😞

So I my entry into NAS was the F2-212, I installed two Lexar NQ100 SSD (probably the wrong type of drive but it is what I had).
It ran with no issues for over 6 months (apart from running out of RAM when trying to do too much, but I am going to get a F2-424 to compensate).
I have moved house and made no changes to the settings but now after an hour of so it becomes unresponsive, I can't bring up the log in screen for TOS, SMB will not connect, it will respond to ping and shows on my network, all the lights are green on the front panel. I have to power cycle it to bring it back up again, or as I have recently discovered, have an external HDD in an enclosure connected to the the USB port.
I initially thought it was a kernel issue as mentioned in other posts as the symptoms match:

Any ideas on what could be causing it or will this happen even if I move the SSDs to the F2-424 when I get it?

Hi there,
So I am about to buy an F2-424 and I was just wondering how does it run on TOS6? I know it comes with 5 and I see there is an upgrade path to 6 (and beta test 7). Also if I want to use the optional M.2 SSD slots, do I have to set this up straight away or can I do it later and choose to use it as cache or OS installation at that point?

Thank you for any help
