thank you u/ZimnyKefir and u/DrJohnnyBlue for the discussion about the plug I didn't know how to remove - in the end, I've trusted the beard of DrJohnnyBlue, grabbed my soldering iron, and did a bit of an invasive install after all :) the tailgate can be opened and closed from inside the car - there's an additional button installed in the empty slot on the left side of the steering wheel, and also as in the video: a regular button on the trunk, the original key fob, and an additional button installed instead of the handle. now I just need to install the kicker under the car so the gate opens hands-free, and the project will be 100% finished - but it's just cosmetics ;)
