Fresh off from the Tokyo Passport Center

Fresh off from the Tokyo Passport Center

Long story short: I was approved for naturalization recently and I had to get a passport before Golden Week 2026 (April 29 ~ May 6 this year) as I have to fly out of the country.

I made it in time before the work visa and permanent residency fees and requirements tightened, but the downside is paying for a more expensive passport insteading of waiting it out by July 1, 2026, when the application fees will be much lower.

Another gripe: the cover feels flimsy so I had to put a passport cover on it to minimize the wear and tear.

Passport wasn't difficult to obtain, just that I had to wait quite a while to be able to apply as I needed to secure a certain document for my application to proceed.

Here's to the next ten years with this passport.
