Installing new construction window in older home
Built a bedroom inside my home and need to install a window. 2x6 construction with T-111 on the outside. I bought a Prime Window Systems casement vinyl window with a nail fin. My question is can I mount it directly to the T-111 or do I need to cut the T-111 back to accommodate the nail fin. The manufacture instructions show installing directly to the studs after installing waterproofing tape. I’ve seen videos of people putting the waterproofing tape over the t-111 but this seems like a poor choice since the tape should be attached to the house wrap? If I cut back the T-111 the width of the nail fin I could in theory install the waterproofing tape to the 2x6 and slide it under the T-111 attaching to the house wrap then use some plywood on top of that to fir out the trim? Let me know what people have done and is the best option. Thanks
