It took Belisarius only nine months to conquer the Vandal Kingdom in North Africa. And notably it only took two major battles to do so.
Fast forward a bit to the Umayyad conquest of Viigothic Iberia, and there is only one major battle recorded and seemingly that battle broke any kind of Visigothic resistance to this conquest.
In both cases we have post Roman "Germanic" kingdoms that were toppled rather quickly and easily.
What are the correlations between the structures of these kingdoms both civic and military that help explain why this was the case? Are there real parallels between these two cases? Or does it just seem that way on the surface?
