I built a free second-hand marketplace just for UoN students — NottSwap is now live 🎓

I'm a recent UoN CS with AI grad (class of 2025) and I've spent the past year building something I really wish had existed during my time at Nottingham.
It's called NottSwap — a free, student-only buy/sell/swap marketplace exclusively for University of Nottingham students. Think Facebook Marketplace but trusted, local, and campus-based.
Why I built it: Every term, students move out and dump perfectly usable stuff — mattresses, kitchen sets, textbooks, electronics. It's wasteful and expensive when the next wave of students buys the exact same things brand new. NottSwap fixes that.
What it does:
- 🎓 Sign up with your u/nottingham.ac.uk email — students only, no strangers
- 📍 List items by campus (University Park, Jubilee, etc.)
- 💬 Chat with buyers/sellers directly in-app
- ♻️ Swipe-to-save Discover mode (yes, like Tinder but for textbooks)
- 💸 Zero listing fees, ever
Especially relevant right now — end of term is coming up and loads of people are moving out. If you've got anything to shift before you leave, list it. If you're staying or coming back in September, grab something cheap.
